Skyrim Memory Patcher possible for NV / TTW?

Post by anstand » Mon Feb 24, 2014 12:32 pm

Does anyone know if this it's possible to do the same with the engine F3 and NV are using?

Playing Skyrim with this patch on ugridstoload=9+ won't result in any crashes for hours

Game doesn't become a lag fest / unstable (with a large amount of mods)

Tends to run smoother in general.

I don't think anyone has done the research to figure out if this is doable with the FONV engine. It could be as simple of finding the right offsets and making the same patch, but that would be predicated upon FONV doing initial memory allocation the same way as Skyrim.

That being said,  my understanding is that NVAC is sort of a 'messy' version of accomplishing the same goal. NVAC allows the same type of crash to not cause the game to exit, the memory patch tries to prevent it from happening at all.

It has been research. The maker of NVAC is the same person who made the SSME - Skyrim Startup Memory Editor for Skyrim. He's stated that Fallout does not benefit like Skyrim does and in an overall performance doesn't make much of a difference.

That is unfortunate. For me the issue isn't crashing, thanks to NVAC. It's performance degredation that can be as quick as one minute of play, stuttering (even with stutter remover, it helps but still does it in places) I swear I have to PCB every few minutes, but there comes a point when even that will do no good. And things like containers and dead NPCs inventory taking a while to appear.

Related mods I'm using are NVAC, NVSE, 4GB enabler and Stutter Remover. In the ini I've tried memory tweaks like the cell buffer for more ram and the iPreloadSizeLimit, but it seems to make it worse or manifest sooner.

I love the game but I'm going to have to make this my last play through.

Attached my LO, maybe it's a mod with lingering scripts.

If your SSD is really full it could be a problem. 8GB of RAM should be enough, unless you are running a lot of background stuff. Your specs are pretty much the same as mine, and I don't have problems. I don't use a lot of mods, but I don't see anything there that I recognize as a problem. I don't think I can be much more help.

No worries J. Not saying it's TTW either, because I've always seemed to have it. Especially the container lag. I purposefully keep my SSD as free as possible and install most games and programs on a second HD. But there's just something about Beths games that I install theirs on the SSD for as fast performance as possible. Skyrim is perfect (in windowed mode and a borderless mod).

Anyway I noticed in my ini that my Vsync was off, yet in the launcher it was on. So I've made sure they were both on. Tweakguides mentions that if using Vsync you should turn on triple buffering, as without fps will gradually drop, which was exactly what was happening. I've followed that particular tip and will see if it still does it.

This is really strange. With such good specs as yours I expect it to run flawless, even with a lot of mods installed. Are you using any Ultra HD texture packs (because these cause some extreme disk thrashing even with 1GB VRAM)?

Also, try to set the "Water Multisampling Quality" to low. This caused extreme stutterting (without any texture mods isntalled) after some minutes of play.

And from what I have heard, iNumHWThreads should always be set to 2 since fps with time while ingame.
