With Mod Organizer manual installs of the main TTW files has become a relatively simple process. Once the installer has run, a user can just drop the files from the "Main Files" folder in the install directory straight into the "mods" folder for MO and it becomes a mod that can be activated with a simple check mark.
Thinking about that it occurred to me that a couple things could be done to make it even simpler for the end user.
-
Include a subfolder in the Main Files folder called INI Tweaks with the edits TTW needs to be functional
-
These files would be super small and inconsequential to anyone that doesn't use MO -
They'd be a MASSIVE help to the new user
-
-
Reorganize the Optional Files folder to be laid out with all the esp files in one folder rather than a subfolder for each
-
This would allow them to be dropped in to the mods folder in the same way the main files are -
A further tweak might even be made to have the FOMOD create a subfolder called "optional" where the esp files that aren't selected can be placed
-
As I type this out it further occurs to me that with these two changes a user could literally select their Mod Organizer\Mods folder as the install destination and it would work instantly with no further action.
I don't pretend to understand the level of work this might or might not take. There are members of the team that could probably lay out exactly what would need to happen as far as the Mod Org requirements. It just seems like the team has a priority of making the install process as clean and user friendly as possible. I would think this would be a big step in making it almost fool proof (for anyone using MO).
