Tools to increase game stability

Post by jaassu » Tue Apr 30, 2013 6:31 pm

I have found that many mods and texture packs are using uncompressed texture files or unefficient format which can be efficiently compressed without losing quality.

I have used this tool to recompress all of New Vegas textures and it improves the game stability.

It also saves a plenty of the disk space. The tool works also with skyrim and oblivion textures.

I have used it with minimum(safe) setting without problems.

stutter remover can fix HWThreads-multithreading and all. Also I use FNV4GB and D3D9Gen.jar.

You can disable gore for increase stability to. :)

Download New Vegas configurator and set all extra-settings to background-loading, multithreading, increase: preload size and maximum cached cells.

I noticed that my game stopped crashing almost completely when running "Optimizer Textures" software with all my New Vegas textures with resize setting = "if > 2048" and generating mipmaps for all textures.

Also freed over 3 gigabytes of disk space.

Also there this texturepack compare utility is very useful for those who want to select best textures from different texturepacks. It automatically copies selected textures into its own output folder directory.
