Factions BoS

Post by cjb135691 » Fri Nov 09, 2012 6:14 am

Hi, i'm excited that this mod is carrying through. Definitely looking forward to having a stable good working mod that is capable of allowing both Fallout 3 and New Vegas to work together. I've been using the old RFCW as of lately and its not doing so well in that role. Anyway. I noticed there was a suggestion section in the forums here and i'd like to add one of my own that i think might go with it. I had always felt that the Brotherhood of Steel being the important faction that they are. Atleast in FO3 that's the case. They deserve a bit more attention than Bethesda had given them. What i wanted to suggest, partly due to an old conversation i had read in the past back on the Nexus. Between some people about ways to mesh the Lonewander  and the Courier's stories together. What i was thinking was, maybe you could always say the LW had been sent by Elder Lyons to the Mojave to attempt to link up with the BOS chapter there and attempt to help them. Even if indirectly restore peace and order to the area. Considering that's essentially what you're doing in the first place. Assuming you're playing the good karma path anyway. After you complete Broken Steel and officially become one of the Brotherhood. After finding out say through a transmission or some other form of communication what is happening. They could send you to the Mojave with orders to link up with the chapter there and try and restore some order, hence leading to the NV story beginning. You could then go under the alias of the Courier to cover up your true identity to individuals you don't want to know. Then through dialog options you can maybe tell others who you are that should know. I was enspired by the unique dialog options you get when speaking to the Followers guy at Helios one. Of whom you have the option of telling you belong to the Bos if you've joined them already. This may also play a important key part in influencing your entry into the Mojave Brotherhood chapter. When you are required to do so durring the one NCR quest. This can provide a means of effectively merging the LW's story with the Couriers, allowing both to flow as seamlessly as possible with a convincing story to back the two. Another idea i had to give them more presence in the game and i believe Bethesda should have done to begin with was. With the, the PITT dlc. There should have been a small side quest running alongside the main one, where elder lyons post BS picks up Werner's distress signal before you do and asks you to investigate, hence kicking off the dlc. Apon meeting with Werner and discovering what's going on. You then have to report back to EL who believing they had successfuly cleared out the Pitt durring the scourge and that Ashur was infact dead. Now asks you to accept Werners request for help and use it as a mean for you to infiltrate the Pitt. Where he wants you to clean up once and for all and deal with Ashur, assuring that nothing more will happen there. Durring your audience with Ashur. I thought it would be fitting if you were presented with a set of unique dialog options after he states. "I knew you couldn't be one of our normal worker. That brings us to the question, who are you and what are you doing in my city?" You should have the option along side the normal ones to tell him who you really are and why you're there. Then with that information, he could could reveal to you who he once was and ask you to tell him what has become of the Brotherhood since the scourge.

While I understand why you

While I understand why you want to do this, I don´t think it is feasible. One one hand it would require a rather complex rework of the FO3 and F:NV Stories (new dialogs, new voice acting). On the other hand there are so many circumstances that conclusively show, that the courier can not be the same person as the Lone wanderer. Trying to fix all logical loopholes is an enormous undertaking, and at the end of the day, what did you win? I think it would be a lot of work, that could be done elsewhere, where it improves other aspects of the game.

Brotherhoods East and West

Post by JimmyFraska » Mon Nov 12, 2012 5:43 pm

Brotherhoods East and West are not compatible. They have completely different outlooks. East is trying to establish a unified government. West is just gathering old tech, as is the Brotherhood's original goal.
