An idea and will to help the project

Post by Lizardsoul87 » Fri Nov 09, 2012 11:04 am

Hi everybody, I finally found out about this project and being a big nostalgic player, I would love to play Fallout 3 with the new game mechanics of New Vegas.

I've been collecting modding experience since Morrowind, and even if I have never done something even remotely big as your project, I can perhaps give a hand, if you need. But I have a question first.

Have you ever considered about rewriting all the F3 quests into FNV. I know that F3 files would need some editing too but, supposing my "idea" is a viable option, shouldn't it be a simpler way?

I've been thinking about it for some time now and my "method" probably wont allow to travel between the 2 games with the same character like your TTW does, but imo it isn't that much of a problem.

Anyway, before putting my hopes on this idea, I'll wait some of your answers, after all I'm not even sure it can be done so easily as I described it..

P.s. I apologize in case my english isn't clear enough, it isn't my fist language, anyway if needed, I'll be glad to be more precise.

Have a nice day.

I'm not completely sure what

I'm not completely sure what you are suggesting, but currently use a slightly modified FO3.esm file that has FNV.esm as its master. There is no "rewriting" required by using this method, the games mesh surprisingly well and only a few bugs and inconsistencies need to be fixed. Please explain what you mean by rewriting

Well, I tought that Fquests

Well, I tought that Fquests and related scripting had some differences from the FNV ones and so they would need to be rewritten from scraps.

I havw this impression because I once tried to port F3 Mothership Zeta Dlc into FNV and I had to remove almost everyting but interior cells and items just to make it run on NV GECK. And even so, some meshes had collision box issues with FNV engine, but that's a minor matter.

But are you saying that you can already playing F3 main quest into FNV without any major editing to FO3.esm?

Because that would be exactly what I'm looking for. Just like some of those "alternative start" mods already present on nexus. Adding FNV items would then be an easy task even for me.

Let me know, I'm very interested on how you edited F3 files and thanks for the reply.

Download the public alpha here most of the work is already done. The main quest and DLCs are completely playable, most bugs are minor, we are at the point where its finishing touches and eradicating bugs.

I'm going to try it soon,

I'm going to try it soon, even if I would prefer some kind of "alternative start" for F3 into FNV engine instead of a "fast travel" feature between the two games, I don't even know if your mod does it already.

I should have done it even before posting in here ;) , thanks for the time anyway.
