Magazine Vending Machines

Post by Gribbleshnibit8 » Sun Dec 16, 2012 3:39 am

The magazine vending machines were underused in FNV. The mesh has open/close animations, yet instead of doing anything with them they just made it a one time use activator that gives you a random magazine for free.

I'm working on an overhaul of that system that will work fine with any use of the existing model, but I think the models should be spread to DC. After all, what big city doesn't have magazine and newspaper machines all over the place in every gas station and on every street corner. See this, this, this. So perhaps scattered around downtown and in various other township areas scattered across the wasteland there could be the magazine machines.

Sounds like a great idea! never understood why they only used them on the strip...for 1 use only?

I agree with that idea too,

I agree with that idea too, it's quite good laugh.

Just a couple of questions since I am now curious about how will it work. Will we be able to buy specific magazines from the vending machines? Will it cost anything to get magazines from them (caps, pre-war money, etc)? Will it work like normal shops that will refresh it's inventory so we will be able to buy more later, or will have a specific amount of magazines and then be permanently empty? Will it have more than one magazine? Will it be random magazines or specific magazines in specific machines? Will it be still like the FNV ones but adding them to the DC area also?

Sorry about the flood of questions but I am quite curious about this idea angel.

Well I will ask chuck to place the magazine dispensers in appropriate places in DC.

Just for the record, gribbles' overhaul is his own project, not a TTW thing.

Just saw this guys, I'll get on placing some of the magazine dispensers around D.C. I like the idea and, hadn't even thought about them as an addition to the Capital waste.

Edit: Ok there are only 9 magazine vending machines in all of NV and, there only on the strip. How many of them do you guys think I should add to DC?

Yeah I'm thinking with DC

Yeah I'm thinking with DC being a much larger city and the entire CW area being more populous in general, I would actually think a good deal more than 9.

Looking forward to this, especially if it works with Gribbleshnibit8s mod right away.
