Point Lookout random issues

Post by Kainschylde » Wed Nov 26, 2014 4:28 am

I am encountering some navmesh issues in Point Lookout on the boardwalk. Companions keep running in circles on flat ground like they're stuck against a building or cliff.

I am also seeing a lot of unconverted shotgun and .32 ammo in various and sundry places.

Right, I knew that. My bad.

Right, I knew that. My bad. To the best of my knowledge the only things that affect PL directly are Red Star (it puts a beacon marker on a ship near the docks for beaming up to the player home. That's the BeamMeUp.esp) and Vending Machines of the Wastes, which adds an ammo machine and a weapons catalog terminal to Madame Panada's shop.

TTW Realistic Wasteland

Post by RoyBatty » Wed Nov 26, 2014 8:35 am

TTW Realistic Wasteland Lighting.esp MUST be last in your load order for one thing, although that is not the source of your problems here. It's probably NOT a good idea to use it in combination with URWL.

NVEC without any patch is bad news to use, very likely this is the issue.

Vending Machine of the Wastes is certainly not the issue, as I use it without a problem. Interiors is also not an issue.

I think it's either NVEC or you have too many plugins, or you are running out of memory somehow.

I can say that there is no old ammunition appearing in my Point Lookout.

About navemesh and companions... well companions are not allowed in Point Lookout, so... angel

Even NVEC Enhancements is bad

Post by Kainschylde » Wed Nov 26, 2014 3:25 pm

Even NVEC Enhancements is bad without a patch? I thought it was ok since it's just additions with no "bugfix" edits.

I misread the description for Realistic Wasteland Lighting, I thought it was actual lights. Wow, that sounds really dumb seeing it written out like that, I think I probably saw the name and assumed from there. I prefer URWL, so I'll just remove that.

All of the .32 and shotgun ammo I've found have been placed world objects. Everything in containers or NPC inventory has been properly replaced with 12- or 20-gauge and .22 ammo, and all the guns I've found have been the proper gauge, dunno if that helps or not.

And yeah, I know you're supposed to be companion-free for PL but it's Brisa and Bittercup. It's hard to leave them behind :P And besides, rickerhk put so much work into getting Brisa to work that not taking her everywhere with me seems ungrateful.

I hope I've just resolved a similar issue with goofy NPCs. Just before I entered the Pitt I installed 'TTW Billboard Camps' and some of the quest NPCs, in the Pitt, wouldn't move or activate. Shorty afterwards I went to Vegas and Veronica stood still or ran in circles and Sunny Smiles wouldn't leave the bar.

I saved inside Chets store, deactivated all non TTW mods and the NPCs started behaving normally. Reactivated mods except Billboards and everything seamed fine. I'm not saying it was Billboards that caused the trouble, it probably just pushed my game over the edge. My computer/game seems to be fussy about adding NPCs. By the way, I'm still on TTW 2.4.

In my game all NPCs are fine, and in other locations there are no problems. It's just on the PL Boardwalk that I've noticed it so far, and only with companions. Specifically the TTW versions of Brisa Amaldovar and Bittercup (I've only completed Mothership Zeta and about 20% of the Capital Wasteland so far, so take this with a grain of salt).

And I don't know if this is significant or not, but it's only in the side-paths to Madame Panada and the ferris wheel. The main boulevard out to the bank and hotel is fine.

I really need to wait until I'm more awake to post bug reports, I left out all kinds of possibly significant details.

If you're seeing .32 or 'shotgun shells' You've got a badly converted mod. And no, contrary to what people will tell you NVEC is bad until a TTW member tears it apart and completely rebuilds it... and they wont.

Also: Props for being the first person in the history of TTW to not be ashamed of their porn mods. Most people delete those lines from their load orders before posting. Seriously people: we don't care. Not even a little bit.

All mods, no matter how major

Post by Kainschylde » Wed Nov 26, 2014 6:52 pm

All mods, no matter how major or insignificant, have a potential for conflict. Cutting out any mod from the list defeats the point of posting a load order. And it's a mature-rated game, for me adding sexual content is just adding realism. I don't use any of the really freaky stuff.
