FO3 DLCs and Surviving on Hardcore

Post by The 3rd Type » Tue Dec 25, 2012 5:52 pm

Having just started playing on Hardcore, I'm wondering how viable surviving on Hardcore in the FO3 DLCs is.

Main Concerns are Anchorage and The Pitt. Since there's absolutely no food, water, or places to sleep in Anchorage, the viable thing to do (like what was done in FWE) was to make the health machines restore max FOD, H2O, and SLP. The Pitt has some unique ingestibles that I wonder if they've been adapted to NV's Hardcore mode (again we did that for FWE) and maybe place some more survival items in places like The Steelyard, as the player has the potential to spend a lot of time in there without their own gear if they want to look for all the ingots in their first visit (like I do).

Broken Steel shouldn't be an issue, but raising awareness in case it is, hoping Aqua Pura, and new Ingestibles are Hardcore certified. Same with Point Lookout.

Mothership Zeta could be a concern if the player travels light and expects to find food items inside the ship, one would need to make the alien ingestibles hardcore certified. Maybe add some hotplates to hub locations on the ship and some alien survival recipes too.

If I recall correctly in Anchorage when you use the Health Dispenser it gives you water and MRE and probably reduces sleep too. I am currently working on Mothership Zeta recipes alien food already reduces hunger and I also think that a hotplate was placed in it already, and there is a bed in that place where all of the temporary followers wait if I remember (I am now testing MZ on Hardcore). In the Pitt there is the Slop which I think also reduces hunger and water needs (again need to check it out soon just to be sure). Point lookout doesn't seem a problem, you can always eat punga fruit and there is water around (I am also thinking of PL specific recipes), beds are also available not to mention there are traders and you can always go back to DC. All the campfires were converted to FNV campfires including the DLC's ones.

I am about to start testing the DLC's in hardcore mode to be honest as soon as I finish the main quest (I am assaulting the purifier at the moment so it won't take long) I will check it all out probably in the next days .

EDIT: Just updated the MZ part since I am now testing it in Hardcore Mode.

Just a heads up, All food

Post by chucksteel » Wed Dec 26, 2012 1:21 pm

Just a heads up, All food vanilla to FO3, "Aqua Pure", "Alien Food", "Slop" has already ben updated to work with hardcore. All NV food has ben updated to work with the "Food Sanitizer" you get a from Moria Brown.

You shouldn't have much issue with hardcore and, the FO3 DLC's

Anchorage is the one that concerns me still then, what measures are used there to keep the player from dying from SLP/FOD/H20 related issues?

Like I said in Anchorage the Health dispensers are supposed to dispense MRE and Water for you to eat and drink when needed cheeky I'm not sure about sleep since I didn't play it yet in Hardcore.

I played Anchorage in hardcore mode, I didn't notice any MRE from the dispensers, but then again, I never looked... I think I remember seeing MRE in my inventory when I accidently went for a stimpack XD. Never needed or used it though, Anchorage is pretty short.

Shouldn't Operation Anchorage

Shouldn't Operation Anchorage and Tranquility lane have Health/Thirst/Sleep needs suspended while inside?

They're simulations.

The team discussed that a while ago, and I think it would get removed from those two situations, if the decision is still in place (might have changed, not really sure) then it's in the to do list cheeky

Not only should they needs be suspended, but I think your Sleep (if not Health/Thirst) should be raised while inside.

If people were inside Tranquility Lane for years upon years there had to be some sort of feeding system implemented to keep vitals high.

While I agree for Anchorage

While I agree for Anchorage that needs should be suspended/refreshed (The sim suit could jack in to IV feeds/catheters/whatever) I don't think so for Tranquility Lane. You just show up and jack in with no prep, theres nothing connected to support you.
