I have tried quite quite a bit, but unfortunately, most of the answers I have seen are about modded or using the organizer. I have an untouched (other than starting the launcher) FO3 GOTY and NV. I uninstalled NV and deleted the entire file before reinstalling it, so I'm starting fresh. I followed the videos on the downloading section. I installed the game/mod itself, then both updates. I have tried without and with JIP LN NVSE Plugin (because I'm pretty sure I misunderstood before). Basically, I did everything on the download page.
The first time I tried this, I got the game to start, but it started in Doc Mitchell's house. I figured this was because I didn't start fresh but had only deleted all my mods from Vortex and NMM. Now I can't even get that far. I have seen some things that state I need a save file in each game and some that state that it's not necessary. It also sounded like 3 is fixed through this, so I don't need to. If I'm simply misunderstanding and actually need a file in each (and thus need to at least do the part about 3 not starting on Windows 10 without a tweak), please let me know.
The most knowledge I have about modding and tweaks is basically by reading readmes in mod files and using NMM and Vortex. I'd also prefer not to use the organizer since the only mods I ever really cared about for this game were the Ulysses companion and Lucky 38 map marker ones. But if that becomes necessary for any reason, I'm willing to do it. Oh, and I did uninstall both and delete the folders each time I retried so it wasn't already installed each time.

How did you install, did you use a mod manager or install into the base folder?
If you installed into the base folder, you need to run the default launcher, push the DATA FILES button, and check mark all the esms.
You don't need any save file, that's nonsense.

Thank you so much. I didn't realize I had to check each one when I started it. I'm so used to everything already being selected. It seems to work now.
