Springvale low FPS

Post by nocthesis » Thu Apr 23, 2020 8:09 pm

I'm self conscious that talking about FPS drops in New Vegas is a little cliche, and I know there is no "magic bullet" per se, but I'm interested in how typical my experience is in this regard. Overall with the Tick Fix installed I'm getting reliable frame rates in most areas, but around Springvale school I'm getting horrible stutters and FPS drops (around 20-fps lost when facing the school). Kinda confuses me, given how I wouldn't immediately think this would be a particularly demanding area.

Is this usual, or is something up? I've tried without any additional mods of course and the issue persists, and I'm on a GTX 1070.

EDIT: Also, could someone explain the iminFPS setting in the Tick Fix ini? To give some more specifics I'm running with vsync enabled, triple buffering, single display performance mode, windowed borderless..etc

I've actually spent about a week fixing and optimizing the meshes that make up the school, it should no longer have FPS drop with 3.3 releases. At least it doesnt for me, on the bright side elsewhere the meshes are used also gets better framerate, like Freeside.

What's your CPU? Springvale issues a shit ton of draw calls. Goes well over 3,000 at certain parts.

It's normal, there are several places where FPS tank in the games. Roy has been actively working on improving the performance in those areas. :D

If you're looking to boost your performance a bit, FNV Mod Limit Fix has the side effect of doing that, so try it out:
