FPS Stuttering
Hi, i'm getting some pretty big stutters when LOD changes to its HD counterpart, obviously that's to be expected but i'm dropping from 80fps to just below 60fps and its quite jarring. I'm using some 2K textures mods, I've tried disabling them and honestly it feels about the same. I was just wondering if this was pretty standard and there's nothing to worry about or if something is wrong with my game ( it's been a while since I've played Fallout 3 or New Vegas so i can't remember what they're like ) sometimes LOD doesn't render properly for certain structures, mainly bridges. I know Fallout has always had issues like this, just wondering if there's any way i can alleviate it without making my game look like shit.

Sounds about normal. I mean there are many ways to improve it but doing really fixes it completely. Especially the FO3 world is heavy on the engine, and perhaps also unoptimized.

I had V sync on without realising, so that's helped since I turned it off, but it's still a bit jarring. I know fallout has always been like that, but i'm trying to get it as smooth as possible

VSync will only cause stuttering when you are in exclusive full screen without triple buffering.Jmsborland97 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 5:26 pm

Do you have the game installed on an SSD? Having it installed on a hard drive is worst case scenario. Best case is RAMDisk, next best is NVME SSD, next best after that is SATA SSD.
Make sure you have ENBoost installed, with EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=true. Remove New Vegas Stutter Remover if it's installed. Install New Vegas Tick Fix.

Re: FPS Stuttering
The game is installed on a SATA SSD, i don't know much about ENBoost, i'm not using any ENB's, can/should i use ENBoost without any presets, or is it irrelevant if i'm not using an ENB?

Re: FPS Stuttering
ENBoost is also in ENB, so choose whichever. If you don't want to run an ENB preset, just go for ENBoost.Jmsborland97 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 11:22 pmThe game is installed on a SATA SSD, i don't know much about ENBoost, i'm not using any ENB's, can/should i use ENBoost without any presets, or is it irrelevant if i'm not using an ENB?

Re: FPS Stuttering
ENBoost just changes how you stutter, you stutter when turning quickly instead of load stutter, that's even more annoying imo. It breaks MSAA on top of that, unacceptable to me.

Re: FPS Stuttering
ENBoost is just causing more issues really, no matter what it's going to stutter. The extra memory made no difference, since I turned V sync off its much better anyway, still drops in fps but not often below 60, so you don't notice it as much.
