Sorry.... Didn't even think about any exchange rate. Wow price doubles? :o
All good. :) And yeah, the economy here hasn't been particularly good of late--but there's a global downturn at the moment so everywhere is kind of feeling it I believe.

Anyway, it turns out it is the PointLookout - Main.bsa. There are only two possibilities that spring to mind as to the cause: I'm using an old version from G4WL, and there is something different about that DLC provided through it, OR I had somehow stuffed it up--perhaps using Point Lookout Reborn?

My money is on the former--it would explain why we both had the same problem--it's too uncanny a coincidence otherwise.

Regards,
Dark.

You still have G4WL active? I thought that it went inactive a long time ago. I haven't used that in years when Fallout games and steam had issues if G4WL was active?

No, I used the bypass once it went under. However, I purchased the DLC for Fallout 3 through G4WL--a big mistake--but it was the only option given that I have the original retail version (non-steam). I always back my stuff up---that's why I still have them. Regardless, either the G4WL version of Point Lookout is a little different or I've somehow managed to contaminate mine. It has me confused, but more for the mystery. :P

On a side note though, you can still log into Games for Windows Live (the Windows Client, not the in-game one), but there's no service---I tried to see if I could re-download the add-ons but they're no longer available (that was what I originally tried when the installation failed).

Kind Regards,
Dark.

Not sure if you're still interested but both Fallout games are 50% off on Steam, just make sure you acquire GOTY for the third game and Ultimate Edition for New Vegas.

You should be able to run the 1.7 patch on your files and have it updated to the current GOTY version.

That is what I had always done in the past when installing pre 3.2 TTW. But I always needed to add all of the addon dcls manually. But when installing 3.2 the TTW installer kept quiting at the same place I mentioned in my original post. After buying the GOTY version on steam and installing it the installer then worked perfectly.

Well you have to move the files from the weird GFWL live folders in the Data folder first, then run the patch.

GFWL? I haven't run that in years.... I don't remember seeing that folder for as long as I can remember. What I always did was to have the DCL's saved on a drive and then just copied them into the data folder. Then I'd run the patch. That has always worked for years and worked whenever I installed pre 3.2 TTW.

It shouldn't be any different now. I have the DLC installers myself still somewhere.

Well something is right when installing 3.2 after installing a clean FO3, adding the DLCs manually and patching the game to 1.7. In my original post I explain where it would hang every time when I was installing 3.2. After buying the GITY version on steam 3.2 installed without an issue. Maybe there is just something wrong with my FO3 or the DLCs or something. But then DarkValor said he had the same type of issue. So who knows...
