Dogmeat very weak - best way to make him stronger?

Post by Arkngt » Sat Jul 04, 2015 1:01 am

I have a somewhat odd issue in my current first TTW game, in which I'm also using Project Nevada, namely that Dogmeat dies almost instantly in fights. Or "dies" rather as I have him set as essential, but it's no fun and makes him useless as a follower. What makes it a bit odd is that I see nothing in FNVEdit that could explain it. TTW carries the changes made to him in Broken Steel and ups his max level to 50. So basically he should be as tough as he is in Fallout 3 with Broken Steel as far as I can tell - and with it he can be killed on lower levels but gains a lot of health when leveling up so he ends up being able to face Deathclaw Matriarchs without being killed.

But now my char is Lvl 10 and Dogmeat is killed after a couple of seconds when facing a single Raider.

Perhaps it is Project Nevada upping enemies attacks, but overall it feels rather similar to FWE which I always use in F3, so that shouldn't be it either.

Anyway, in short: what is the best way to make him twice if not three times as tough? Should I up his health - or is it better to tweak his level mult - or perhaps both?

As it is, it takes away a lot of the fun in the game as I always use Dogmeat and it's not much fun to have him die all the time.

Thanks both. Yes, I guess it

Squishy was the word I searched for yesterday rather than weak.

Thanks both. Yes, I guess it's Project Nevada. As said, I don't have this issue when using FWE, but I guess PN makes enemies do even more damage.

Is there a way I can give him damagethreshold with the GECK? I don't find any values for it. It was added by FNV, but looking in FNVEdit, I see no values for that for its creatures either.

Guess I could double his health and max out his endurance and see how that goes.

DT/DR is given by a spell, check super mutants and other creatures.

OK, thanks! I gave him 1000

OK, thanks! I gave him 1000 health and 10 endurance - and that helped, without feeling cheatish either - he's still killed if facing two raiders at the same time. But I'll experiment around a bit and try out DT/DR.

EDIT: DT was a good idea - simple and effective. I tried with the Super Mutant DT (15), which was overdoing it a bit, so I gave Dogmeat his own effect at 10. I'll simply tweak it until it seems balanced.
