Can't save script in the GECK

Post by Arkngt » Thu Jul 02, 2015 12:47 pm

I'm trying to edit a script in the GECK, but after editing it, hitting Script > Save, it asks if I want to save the script when closing the script window - and even if I say yes there (Save current script), it's not saved. In short, I can't save the edited script.

Guess I might be missing something that is different from Fallout 3 and FNV (TTW)? In Fallout 3, I have no issues editing scripts, saving, closing the script window and saving the changes to the plugin.

You need the GECK powerup fork by HLP and to be running the GECK through NVSE.

I have the fork (I think - the GECK Stuff kit), but I didn't load it via NVSE as the plugin doesn't use NVSE functions. I'll try that.

Not loading it through NVSE

Not loading it through NVSE prevents it from actually 'fixing' the GECK to work properly. You'll likely find the script wasn't saving due to an error that you never got a message for.

Yes, that was it and it was a good thing as well (as you point out) as I had to update other parts of the script as well, i.e. SmallGuns = Guns etc. I'll make sure to load it via NVSE in the future. Thanks!

Guilty as charged... For a guy who has helped with support for lots of mods over the years and always recommend users to read the readmes, I'm very lousy at it myself... Sorry for wasting your time with stuff that is answered in the readmes... blush
