Help with Companion Summoning in Cheat Terminal

Post by frootzcat » Wed Aug 06, 2014 7:30 pm

Hello!

I'm trying to update the infamous NV Cheat Terminal to include Fallout 3 stuff, and I've hit a small snag on the Companions options. You're suppose to be able to click an option to summon people to you, linked to their .REF. I have all the humans working (Jericho, Clover, ETC) but cannot get it to summon RL-3, Dogmeat, or Fawkes to me. I'm not sure where to find their REF or how to make this work. I've attached my modified add-on here for you to look at.

What am I doing wrong?

in the GECK, find their base

in the GECK, find their base form, right click, choose "use info"

It will bring up a box split into 2 sections. The top section is what other records reference it, the bottom section is where it is placed in the game world.

For companions (most of which are only ever placed once) there is usually just one reference in the bottom section. If you double click on that reference, it will load the cell they are in. If you then double click on the companion another box will pop up with info about them, including their reference ID (at the very top).

The reason the humans work is because they are all not quest related, whereas the non-humans ARE quest related, and so they are prefixed with the ID of the quest they participate in.

So would that mean for

So would that mean for Dogmeat I have to include the Quest ID '0A0943ED' in the Dogmeat.REF command in the Cheat Terminal code?

No... I already told you what

No... I already told you what to do.

The suffix "REF" is not universal. They could have called Dogmeat's in game reference ScoobyDoo and it would work just fine. So you need to find where Dogmeat is placed in the world and get the editor ID of that placed Dogmeat.

I love using the cheat

I love using the cheat terminal in FNV and seeing as how I just installed TTW I will test this out, thanks.  Btw, does this add the portable terminal directly to your inventory at the start of the game as the FNV mod does?
