Project Nevada - Realistic Needs

Post by Kurt91 » Fri Jul 28, 2017 8:47 am

I wanted to have the whole "need food, water, + sleep to survive" mechanic going without adding to the rest of the game's difficulty, because while the immersive aspect seems fun, I suck horribly at FPS games. I downloaded and installed Project Nevada, partially because it had an immersive needs aspect.

I've gone through Moira's quest for food/medicine at the Super-Duper Mart, and got back. I haven't seen much of anything as far as needing to eat or drink. I know that at one point, I was spamming food in a safe corner to get HP back without needing my Stimpaks, but I don't recall drinking anything except for the water near the Megaton bomb to get my radiation levels up for Moira's radiation quest.

Does Project Nevada actually implement the immersive needs, or is it just an audio cue to go with a separate immersive need mod? If it's just an audio cue, does anybody have a recommendation for a needs mod that doesn't touch the actual gameplay too much?

If I understand correctly,

If I understand correctly, you would like a mod that removes weighted ammo, Stimpaks and Radaway work over time, followers die and Stimpaks don't heal limbs, from Hardcore mode but still leave the needs for food, water and sleep?

Unfortunately I never heard of a mod that does what you want. Most Hardcore mods don't remove the other things from the mode and in fact make things harder.

I think that the best bet would be to try and find mods that restore those things individually. IIRC JIP CCC has the option to make companions essential, I think there might be mods that make ammo weightless too but I am not sure.

It might be easier to run

It might be easier to run FONV/TTW in normal game mode, and convert a simple FO3 needs program to TTW.

If you want weightless ammo

If you want weightless ammo and other such features your going to have to either do it yourself in the geck or download several different mods.

You can use Roy's companion's essential mod for the companions.

You can use this for weightless ammo in hardcore mode

You can use this for healing with stimpaks instantly in hardcore mode

Don't know about the last mod because I never tried it myself.  The weightless ammo mod makes everything except railway spikes and darts weightless.  If you want them weightless you'll have to go into the geck and do it.  I never tried Roy's mod in hardcore mode but since it says essential I'm going to assume companions can't die in hardcore mode.  Tried doing a quick search on instant radaway but it didn't bring anything up.

Also OP if your playing in hardcore mode where your heal over time if you spam several healing items together you'll get basically a wolverine style regeneration ability that's actually more OP than instant heal...so if your worried about hardcore mode getting you killed more often I wouldn't worry about it.  Hardcore mode really isn't "hardcore" it's basically "more real worldish mode".

The way I play the game my character views his companions as worthless slaves to be used and discarded so them dying doesn't really matter.  Plus I usually use a modded companion or two.  I also play on hardcore mode myself but use weightless ammo mod since I like the other aspects of hardcore mode the weight on ammo why more realistic is something I find annoying with me being klepto in the game.
