Some Mod Questions

When using Tale of Two Wastelands do New Vegas mods affect the fallout 3 portion? For example would the New Vegas version of Floral Overhaul effect both wastelands or only the New Vegas portion? If its the latter do I use both the New Vegas version and a converted Fallout 3 version at the same time?


Update: Okay maybe Floral Overhaul was a bad example. What about things like the interface with mods like MTUI?Would the New Vegas version suffice since the interface is running in New Vegas mode at all times? Or would I still need to include a converted Fallout 3 version?

It depends on the mod.


Generally, mods that add content will only work for the portion of TTW from the game for which they were originally made.


Since New Vegas reuses most of its content from Fallout 3, however, there are some parts of Vurts's Flora Overhaul, for instance which will affect DC in addition to New Vegas, and vice versa.


If you have a question about a specific mod, it's probably been asked and answered in a thread somewhere on the forums or even in the FAQ. Hope this helps.

Well in your particular case, Vurt's already had a TTW combined version created.

This has a fomod installer with options for you to choose which version for each wasteland you want to use, and suitable patches for nmc and a few other mods. (On a personal note I feel that "Dead" DC, and "Fertile" NV look the best, though each has it's own charm.)


The best suggestion is to also look in both the "Converted Mods" and "Mod Releases" forums on the site here. There's a big treasure trove of information and mods already released with TTW in mind, and with making the mod work for both wastelands.

if it adds things to you, it should work perfectly all over, if it doesn't then the things added depend on new vegas events (like leaving doc's house the first time).


if it adds things to people, it might have issues, not all the people use all the same stuff across the two wastelands


if it adds things to things, it depends on whether those things are in both wastelands


if it removes or changes things to any of the above, it generally follows the same rules.


perms:  either a full fireworks display spelling out "Puppettron Made This" anytime a user accesses my content in-game, or just give me credit somewhere.
