FNV Custom Companions

Post by Nofsdad » Wed Sep 16, 2015 4:14 pm

I have a favorite FNV follower ( Sarah Connor by Dogtown1) that I now like to use in TTW and the CW.  I've been bringing her to DC by console and she arrives with her companion wheel not working.  Luckily I'm still able to control her through JIP-CC but I was wondering if there was any way to get her there without using the console.  Steam achievements are not a really big deal to me but I don't mind getting one now and then and besides I've been conditioned to think of console use as cheating.

Is there something I could do to make her appear say outside Vault 101 rather than in front of Doc Mitchell's house, bearing in mind that I know absolutely nothing about the G.E.C.K?  Thank you.

What console command did you

What console command did you use? Did you create a new instance of the base object or did you move the existing reference? The base is the one in the geck objects list... the reference is a placed instance of the base object, in the geck render window. They're different form IDs.

A simple way to do this would be the Pip-Phone mod. If you talk to her while she is a follower, she'll be added to the phone's follower list. you can then "call" her from DC... when you exit a pip-phone initiated dialog with a follower, PipPhone asks if you want to teleport them to you. Handy for re-hiring someone without hiking across the world. You can call them, hire them, and then pip phone offers to teleport them to you.

Thanks for the response.

All I did really was use the "placeatme command" to bring her to me just outside V-101.  So far everything seems to be going OK (except that second one of her popped up at the very beginning, owhich couldn't be interacted with) using JIP's CC mod.

I like the pip-phone idea but I think it would require me hiring her in Goodsprings where she pops up (She does have to be hired in a normal FNV game).  Since I start in DC not sure how I'd work this.

placeatme creates a new

placeatme creates a new instance with a different refid, you can't do that. You need to use moveto instead.
