Still confused on modding ToTW

Alright, so i've been putting off this mod for far to long as it looks amazing, but what still confuses me is modding it. I've read the F.A.Qs and some forum post but still don't get it. Do i need two sets of mods for both NV and FO3? Are the converted mods just installed in NV but work in FO3? So if it is converted, what exactly doses that mean? My best guess is you install NV mods separate, FO3 mods separate and converted mods are mods installed via NV but work in both.... Sorry if these are dumb questions, i just don't really get it.

It sounds to me like you wont be modding TTW, but using mods with TTW. In that case, NV mods and converted FO3 mods go in your NV data folder, and after the installer is ran you'll pretend your FO3 folder doesn't exist.

Alright, thanks so much! So NV mods i install will effect FO3 as well? I should also use converted mods whenever i get the chance, right?

Some NV mods will affect both wastelands, some won't. If there is an NV version of an FO3 mod, you generally want to use the FNV version. On rare occasions you need both, such as AWorldOfPain and DC Interiors, both of which team members have merged to make TTW versions of them.

TTW is an FNV mod.  it adds everything from fo3 to FNV, but it's still an FNV mod.  it will not even notice things you add to fo3.  i hope this alleviates some confusion.


perms:  either a full fireworks display spelling out "Puppettron Made This" anytime a user accesses my content in-game, or just give me credit somewhere.

So, one last question, when it comes to compatibility patches with the converted mods or mods made for TTW are they treated like the original and i can use the patch from the nexus?

Not usually. I guess it just depends on what's changed but usually the patches wont work or will break things in the TTW patch.
