I willing to try the TTW mod very much. The idea of having New Vegas content and some improved features in Fo3 is very welcome. However, I have a few dillemas. They aren't much but even though I'm an experienced NexusMods user, I'm very much new to this and I still don't have all the loose ends tied up.


First, if I understand this correctly, you are one character in TTW, both through fo3 and NV. I am pretty strict about this and I want to play with two diff. characters for each game. I believe there shouldn't be any problems if I finish fo3 with TTW and play NV without it, am I right?



Second, I would like to know a bit more about texture mods. Are we still able to install different texture mods (terrain, environment etc.) for both games? I'm only asking because I want to maintain a separate feeling for both games.



Third, the weather mods...As I've stated, I want to have a diff. feeling for both games. I've been thinking about installing both weather ENB mods from Marcurios (they are on moddb: http://www.moddb.com/members/marcurios/mods) since each of them has their own BSA file, convert the fo3 version for TTW and enable the appropriate esps whenever I want to play either fo3 or NV (with their appropriate enb setting, of course). Would that kind of approach work? Are there any catches to it?



Before I finish, just a word about the PN patch...I only use Core and Rebalance. Would it work ok if I just remove the Equipment and Cyberware masters from it in FNVEdit?



I hope this shouldn't be hard to answer and that I'm not asking too much.

You're allowed to travel to the Mojave with one character if you wish. If not, no issues here. Just untick TTW and the Fallout 3 plugins when you want to play NV again. And return the starting quest to what it is by default in your .ini configuration files, but only if you installed manually - uninstalling the .fomod should do the same thing.

Lots of users have these kinds of questsions and have started many threads on them. No one solution exists since it's all up to the user's personal preference but you should be able to find the answer to your questions on the forums. We also address this in the FAQ. In short, yes: it's possible to install texture packs specific to each worldspace as well as weather mods ". You'll need to figure out the combination you're comfortable with since by design there's a great deal of crossover between wastelands when it comes to sharing assets. 


But if you don't plan on traveling between the wastelands anyway (you should still check out the train station) you might not be concerned as much with crossover between wastelands.

Without removing records in the PN-TTW patch which also refer to records in these master files, probably not. A plugin which modifies something which doesn't exist will likely cause your menu not to load.

Welcome around here, I don't use mods with TTW so I will only answer to the things I know about, but don't worry, I am sure many other people that play with mods will be able to answer in more detail, I am just butting in so you get a fast answer for some things.




  1. There is no problem about using TTW and only play the Fallout 3 side of it, you are not required to go to New Vegas anytime during TTW, so you can just play FO3 and ignore the Train Station building . After you play the TTW FO3 until you're satisfied, you can just disable or uninstall TTW and all related esm and esp files and go on with Fallout New Vegas like Normal (A note, make sure that any mod for TTW that affects both wastelands is also disabled).


  2. IIRC there is in the FAQ a section about texture mods, but if memory serves me right, some textures are used in both wastelands so some things might show the same in both games.


  3. About weather mods someone else will have to answer, but I remember that Fallout New Vegas weather setting is different from the one for Fallout 3, so I think that the FO3 weather mod would have to be edited to work with the Fallout New Vegas weather system, but again I will wait for someone more knowledgeable to answer.


  4. Can't really say anything about PN, have no idea how it works and how it would affect to remove masters from  it.

Thank you very much, both of you . I'll try tinkering with the PN in FNVEdit, maybe I'll figure it out something.


About the textures, I think I'll create two diff. texture and meshes folders , one for each game and install them whenever I need them. It's an old-fashioned time consuming approach but it should work.


The weather mod for Fo3 will just have to be tested, I guess.


One more thing: since my existing fo3 saves according to the FAQ won't work, could someone please send me a TTW save file just before you exit into the wasteland, when you get the option to modify your character again. It's for testing purposes and I don't want to go through the whole vault sequence at the beginning just for that since I feel it's too special. You can send it in a PM ... or just attach it here.

There is a clean save before exiting the vault somewhere on the site, but I don't know where. Hopefully another teammember will see this and post their own because I don't have mine...
