Looking for ideas for a mod

Post by Anacostia Crossing » Mon Mar 28, 2016 4:44 pm

Hello, I'm finishing and polishing a mod, and I was wondering to add few more things. I started it a long time ago but then I stopped for some reasons, now I just finished the new version, after rewriting almost all the scripts.

It is a mod that handles fatigue, in an indepent way compared to APs. I mean, I always have seen APs as reflexes and reaction speed, while I wanted an extra bar for fatigue just like in skyrim, which is what the mod is about.

So I'm adding few ways to get the player tired, and actually these are active:

- Run (normal run, not sprint)

- Medium / heavy armor (there's a STR threshold for these)

- Weapon STR requisite (it drops if you Wield a weapon without requisites)

- Radiations (these drop the max fatigue, like in FO4)

- Drink (this recovers fatigue)

- Swimming (it consumes only to floats + more consumes to move)

- Hit (it drops when you're it)

- Melee / Unarmed (every hit drops it)

The mechanics I used try to involve S.P.E.C.I.A.Ls. I.e. the STR threshold for weapons and armors, but also consumption is proportional to AGI and the max fatigue value to END.

Everything's configurable / selectable, but my idea has its roots on a somewhat heavy hardcore mode, based on realism. Like... can you run from GS to Jane's Diving without being exhausted? you probably will have to stop from time to time and take some breath, if you have no resistance (END and AGI). If you make some scientist-type of player, you can't use medium / heavy armors, or machine guns etc. or you'll suffer tremendous consequences - as it should be imho. The debuffs when you're exhausted are very bad, and you can exhaust easily, this wants to be an extra reason to make choices, instead than pumping 10 points on INT.

EDIT: oh I forgot to add... one of the debuffs is a progressive slowdown on movements, so for example more you run more you get exhausted and more you'll go slow until you won't stop and take some breath.

So... essentially...

The mod can be easily used by other mods, without being Master of them, in a easy way, something like

<blablabla some buildref>

Call Hey_You_Got_Tired 100

and it will drop 100 from the bar, etc. so it's fully implementable, but still I'd love extra ideas to put inside the core itself, more ways to get tired.

I could for example increase regeneration if you are sitting down, but the bar itself doesn't require much time to fill. Unless you decide some huge values (since it's configurable), so maybe it could deserve it. I don't know.

Some ideas?

PS I also would love some male breath sounds, to sound exhausted, if someone can provide it.

PPS I also would love some extra testing, but I know it's hard to find testers.

Project Nevada has out-of-breath sounds on the sprint module. Maybe check if those are usable, or if they're vanilla game files

Thank you, I checked and they come from a user. Unfortunately I can't track him down, so I guess I'll have to discard that option frown

It wasn't easy but I finally managed to find a viable male breath. Now the plugin is more or less completed and it will sit on my hd for some time, to ripe a little. If someone would love to test it, please PM me, I'll be very happy to include your own settings inside the mod package (it includes import / export of settings, so it's just a matter of a click).
