Fallout 2286 - WIP Mod

Post by EnderDragonFire » Sat Feb 14, 2015 7:27 pm

The Project:

This is a project inspired by the recent 9 years later discursion, as well as the popular DUST mod released on nexus. I began working on it a short while ago and decided to make a forum page. The mod intends to differentiate between the courier and the lone wanderer, and to bring more linearity to the TTW game, while changing both wastelands to reflect the passage of time.

The Premise:

This mod will make minimal changes to the initial Fallout 3 portion of the game. However, once you take the train to Nevada, things get interesting. You will find that the date is 2286, 9 years after the original Fallout 3, and 3 years after New Vegas. And you are not the courier, rather, you are walking through a land shaped by his (or her) actions. And they were not very good actions at all.

The Changes:

Mojave-

  • Main quest is disabled, benny is long dead and you have no score to settle, no platinum chip.

  • House is alive, Caesar and NCR have lost most of their territory. MKII Securitrons are active.

  • Tunnelers, Spore Carriers, and ghost people can be found in the Mojave, as well as many Fallout 3 enemies, such as raiders and albino radscorpions.

  • No more fiends, other raiders gangs still holding out

Lonesome Road-

  • Ulysses is alive, not hostile to player

  • Couriers mile has been opened

  • Both major factions nuked by Courier

Zion Valley-

  • Sorrows and Dead Horses are enemies (to one another)

  • Canaanites and White Legs are long gone for Zion

  • Graham executed Salt-Upon-Wounds

Dead Money-

  • Cannot access the Sierra Madre

  • Courier sided with Elijah, has not been seen since.

Old World Blues-

  • No major changes

Eventually I would like to also change the Capital Wasteland to reflect the passage of time, but I am not sure what exactly would happen. In the first version of this mod, you will not be able to go back to DC, I will unlock it after I finish with Nevada.

Sounds interesting, it's going to be a lot of work.

The CW changes would have to reflect how far you carried the main quest and the choices you made.

The author of the DUST mod

The author of the DUST mod has given me permission to incorporate parts of his work into this mod. That might be worth considering, with how many overlapping goals our projects have. But it would also mean adding an extra dependency to my mod.

I will probably release the mod one area at a time, starting with the  Mojave and working through the DLC's.

Basically, the Lone Wanderer is going up against the Courier?
We are so the baddest gang in the Wastes!

I have not decided whether the Courier will actually ever appear; who is to say the Elijah did not betray him/her? But the Lone Wanderer is certainly going against the legacy of the Courier.

Would it make sense for the Courier to take the Wild Path/Yes Man path instead of Mr. House? Also, would there be an alternate version where the Courier made good choices, like stopping Elijah, either NCR or Yes Man with Securitrons, etc.? At least mostly?

I'm not speaking for the author, but it seems to me that making multiple versions would be a lot of work. Also, it seems like he's planning on making it like the courier made the Mojave an inhospitable hellhole with a robot dictatator.

If the courier was a good person, then the future would be boring cheeky. Also, what Nilloc said.
