Just a quick heads up - gopher has started a new series specifically on modding new vegas with mod organizer

Its very good because it covers new vegas specifically and a recent version of MO.
I am slowly playing with MO.  I was wondering how is the best way of dealing with an esp that comes unpacked?

Create a folder in the mods

Create a folder in the mods directory, put esp in, click mod organizer tools button, refresh

Make sure it is the mods folder in FNV/Mod Organizer or FNV/Mod Organizer/Mods.

There are other ways to do it but let's keep it simple for now.

Thanks.  I suspected that was one way.

Is the more complicated way packaging up the .esp with an archiver and installing it that way?

Yes, but that way is not

Yes, but that way is not strictly necessary with MO. The only benefit to installing via Nexus and zip files is that MO will let you know if the mod is out of date.

I am now a  mod organizer

Post by tacitus » Mon Feb 23, 2015 5:48 pm

I am now a  mod organizer convert.

After this thread followed by gopher's videos and a little reading, I have now successfully and confortably moved from FOMM to Mod Organizer.  Its awesome and its so much easier to use especially when upgrading TTW.  I upgraded twice and it was so much less than a hassle this time than previously. It is also much easier to run to other stuff (geck, fnvedit, etc) on a stripped down load order as needed.

For anyone who is as hesistant, don't be; its worth the learning curve.

Thanks for the push!

I use MO with TTW and have

Post by genius384 » Mon Feb 23, 2015 11:58 pm

I use MO with TTW and have had no issues.

Mod Organizer is pretty sweet.  It is kind of like Wrye Bash and FOMM/Oblivion Mod Manager had a baby, only way better.

The fact that I can change between a TTW and New Vegas Vanilla/New Vegas Modded profile on the fly is great.

Also FWIW MO used to have problems with FOMOD archives but now it  I'm actually curious to see how MO works with Oblivion/Nehrim.

@Paragon

 1. Nuke Everything.

 2. Install New Vegas

 3. Google "Fear & Loathing In New Vegas"

 4. Follow instructions

Once this is done create a TTW profile. You should be good enough to pull that off by this point.

Starting a new character and want to try TTW and want to try to pull off the Fear & Loathing/Clear and Present Danger as close as possible, if that is possible. Or at least the TTW/Fear & Loathing part, like TJ outlines above. I'm not new to modding, but new to TTW and MO.

If I want to try to do this, according to this post, I'd use MO to create a Fear & Loathing profile, then follow the S.T.E.P. instructions for creating that mod pack. Once I finish and that profile is created, tested, and stable, I'd use a copy of the Fear & Loathing profile to create a TTW profile and then install TTW. That all correct? Then if I wanted to go any further, make a new profile and see if anything from the Clear and Present Danger S.T.E.P. will work?

And if none of this makes sense, call me out. I think I know what I'm talking about, but I never feel sure. While I got hundreds of hours from heavily modded Skyrim, FO3, NV playthroughs, they were all from me following Gopher video instructions frame by frame. Even then, I don't think I got everything right - so still pretty green to modding.
