Hey everyone,

Post by MarchUntoTorment » Wed Apr 16, 2014 12:24 pm

Hey everyone,

Well, I'm having a rather serious issue in making my game work - in that I'm getting CTDs every time I try to open the game. I just got my new gaming PC together, downloaded FO3 and FNV last night and have spent all of today installing TTW and my list of heavily-used mods from my FNV playthrough. Before installing any mods, I ran the NVSE loader and 4GB loader to make the thing work properly; while in the process of waiting for some textures to download, I installed an ENB as well.

After an aborted automatic installation of TTW (kept bugging out and giving me '[random string of letters and numbers] not found at server' errors, which are apparently caused by not enough RAM), I executed a manual install and started throwing mods at it. Everything was fine until I tried to open the game, at which point it started CTDing like crazy.

Now, I can confirm that it's not a load order issue - I ran BOSS three times and then checked through the masters of every single mod I had. Perfectly fine. No problems there. So I'm clueless as to where my error lies.

So now I've got no idea what's going on. Until it's fixed, the game's bust. Which is really not fun.

(Note - writing this from my laptop; I exported my load order, but not my TTW install log. If it'd help, I can attach the TTW log tomorrow.)

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help!

Operating System: Windows 7

CPU: Intel i5 4440 Quad-Core

RAM: 8GB (2x4 config)

Load order is attached below.

Please, please, can anyone help me?

Regards,

First thing about playing TTW

Post by Risewild » Wed Apr 16, 2014 1:36 pm

First thing about playing TTW is not use any mods until you get out of vault 101, then install a few at a time and try playing for a bit and see if any obvious problems occur, if no problems are found, install a few more and do the same test playing for a bit, rinse and repeat until satisfied.

I don't have time to look at your load order since I am going to bed now, but I am sure other helpful people will be able to do a better work checking it out later wink.

EDIT: No more CTD's! Things

Post by MarchUntoTorment » Wed Apr 16, 2014 3:00 pm

UPDATE: No more CTD's! Things seem to be pretty good now. Turns out, MoMod was the culprit. Axed that from the LO and I'm fine now. Game started normally after a bit of trouble (had to alter Fallout.ini again for some reason).

Anyway, seems pretty good now. Not sure if I should disable all my mods and play through Vault 101, or keep things as-is (seems to work pretty good now).

Why do people insist on LOOT

Post by FiftyTifty » Fri Oct 27, 2017 8:43 pm

Why do people insist on LOOT and BOSS. Load up FNVEdit, order your mods in relation to what they add/edit, and then resolve the conflicts.

Using these automatic load order tools is just asking for a mess.

BINGO! That's pretty much how I do it. Alphabetical by category unless conflicting with another mod. In those cases, I'll either rearrange the mods, or create an override in the merged patch that resolves the conflict. All LOOT/BOSS does is mix all the mods up randomly so it's nearly impossible to tell what you have while in the mod manager.

LOOT will not sort the

LOOT will not sort the plugins properly, if it does ever it's purely by chance.

The BOSS that is included with The Mod manager that is Suggested, DOES NOT EVEN WORK! SO, how is it that someone is supposed to use it? OR, Is there a BOSS that works separately, then we Manually change the order? I Tried LOOT also, and it does Nothing.

What those tools do mostly is sort the plugins in master dependent order, so that each plugin that requires a master comes AFTER it's master plugin. They also have the ability to 'set' a specific order for a given plugin (such as official patches coming directly after their official masters). They can also backdate BSA's so they have the proper 'date' for archiveInvalidation, without doing that in someway, using the invalided.bsa won't completely work since Steam changes the date for the official files from when they were first created to when you downloaded and installed them. That puts the dates far after some of the texture mods- breaks the game's ability to determine which file is the newest since the BSA now comes, date-wise, after the textures (like with Oblivion). It's kinda funny how Bethesda did it, as each game they come out with, they improve the formula somewhat.

Everything else can be kinda jumbled. Here's why:

All the other plugins have basically the same 'priority' in that, depending on their order, some fields such as damage, skills, embedded scripts, and who knows what else will either work as intended or be changed and won't work or work differently. The last record (and the fields contained in it) always wins; the plugin that's loaded after the one containing the same record and fields.

That's where you have to decide which one you want to win by using a tool like xEdit to create a merged patch (highly recommended), or manually re-arrange the load order best you can. There's no way an automated tool could ever really do that; they can do some things, just not everything.
