What would you guys want to see in a TTW dual-wasteland designed companion?
Bringing ED-E over and leaving him in the Roosevelt Academy? A new companion completely? Humanoid or non-humanoid?
Maybe a Ghoul that first tells you about the train to New Vegas.
This is a project I would like to work on at some point but I really don't know what direction to go in, so thoughts?

If I had the time to build it, I would expand the "Amata follower" mod that I converted from FO3.
Have Amata react to NV scenery, locations, and quests, etc. I dunno what else.
I always liked the whole "we're two kids from the vault, out to explore the world" concept. Butch sort of works, but his availability as a companion happens late-game, and is dependent on how you complete quests and what your karma is.
It would be fun to make a companion mod with one of the other people from vault 101 too, and use their voice files for the companion like with Amata.

A full ttw-spanding companion
A full ttw-spanding companion would be awesome. Not sure how involved of a companion you are looking to make. I like companions (like Sydney) that make comments on areas you are visiting. A companion that could make comments both in CW/NV would be epic. This would take a lot of work obviously. So, are you looking to create a custom companion or just convert a vanilla one?

I havent used Russel from someguy...but from what Ive read it seems like a pretty good companion. I am going to use him once I get to NV. I like the fact that he is part of the someguy series (NV Bounties, Inheritance, etc.) I think that is the perfect way to create a companion. The more dynamic the character the better!

It'd be easiest to do this with a completely third party companion. I'd love it if we could coax llamaRCA to add in some scripts/dialogue to Willow so she'd take notice of DC as well. Admittedly this is only good if you get her in the Mojave, but as it stands you can do that pretty much as soon as you're capable of actually getting into the train station in the first place, so not too big a deal.
Getting it to work with one of those "Amata follower" type mods is a bitch and a half since you'll have a jarring break in the sound of their dialogue every time the game calls one of the new lines.

Not necessarily. If the existing NPC has a lot of voice lines, or they have a non-unique voice type, you can reuse the original lines for a variety of purposes. This is how all the extra dialogue lines for the "vanilla" characters follower mods work - Amata, Sydney, Sunny Smiles, etc.

I would love a mod to allow the MZ companions to be usable after the DLC
having Paulson and Elliott Tercorien commenting on the state of the country would be awesome while they would walk around DC and NV, since they are from the past I can only imagine how interesting would be having them sharing their opinions about the present state of ... well the States. And of course Toshiro Kago, wold be awesome if he could also say stuff about his surroundings, but in japanese

I also always thought it could be cool if we could convince either The Mechanist or The AntAgonizer to join us as a companion. Other choices for DC NPC's that I think could be interesting as companions are: Herbert "Daring" Dashwood, Somah (from MZ DLC), maybe we could pay Moriarty and settle Gob's debt and have Gob as a companion too, Defender Morrill (after we beat OA DLC), maybe Croatoa (from PL DLC), someone from Meresti (maybe Brianna since vanilla FO3 only has two female followers and Holly is married to Vance so I doubt she would be willing to join the lone wanderer. Vance could be a good companion too, but I think he wouldn't want to leave his family) or even a Gary.
Sorry I know it wasn't what you were asking but I had to add my two cents.
Now for an entirely new companion made from scratch... Maybe an alien
but that wouldn't work since they don't speak english... So maybe mmmm a Chinese Remnant that decided that there was no point in continuing spreading propaganda since there was no more war and the country was destroyed. He could be saved by the player from being executed by the other remnants for treason and would join the player as a companion after that, commenting about it's surroundings maybe saying stuff like "how hard the mighty capitalists have fallen" and stuff like that...

Y'all know how there's that one enclave camp where the troops revolted and killed their officer ? What if you could recruit one of them ? You could use whatever voicing you want since it wouldn't exactly be a known character, could even make up your own back story and quests for the character.
Or that one creepy chick from Big Town who thinks you're her BF/GF ?
