A lot of training... it isn't

A lot of training... it isn't simply the resolution alone that makes a good texture (and simple upscaling makes it more worse then better). Compare Obsidians exclusive textures with Bethesdas and you can see pretty easily why textures at the same resolution can look so drastically different. There is no simple trick to it. It's a artform.

While i still have this topic up. Can anybody tell me how you use gimp to delete or remove bits and pieces of textures in a dds file. say erasing them or whatever. i know its possible, but i haven't been able to find any materiel that shows how.

Do you mean with "erasing"

Do you mean with "erasing" making parts of the armor invisible ingame or something different? I mainly use Photoshop but the principles are the same in Gimp and I am sure I can help but I am not sure if we both mean the same ;) .

Yeah, actually. I did mean

Yeah, actually. I did mean doing erasing and invisible and that. A lot of the vanilla armors and even some of the mod ones are one piece if you mess with them in nifskope and in removing one piece of the said armor, you remove everything, including the body sometimes. I wanted to remove random bits and pieces of armors, for example shoulder pads and arm or leg accessories on some of the raider armors to make them more simple. DOn't ask why. Erasing them or using other similar methods seems to be the only logical way of doing that. I tried it in gimp and couldn't get it to work.
