Well....to start off.. I tend to love using pointless to most and/or novelty items or fun things like the Rock-it launcher and try to make them useful but it is hard to come by most times because the lack of quantity. Therefore I'm going to jump right in and slap some examples on the table.
Doll that makes noise when thrown and/or detonated which attracts enemies
A Target dummy that confuses the Enemy attacking it instead of you [or a weak build/hire your own companion similar to Ed-E]
Bottle of tacks that eventually cripples anything that walks over it
or
A leather Rocket Suit that increases your running speed when used with a chance to backfire that can set you on fire or worse
I could sit here all day naming things...Thus I don't know the full extent of the AI or the scripting involved [very long and hard..] but it would be fun when I get to TTW after I start doing my Fallout Marathon broadcast...in that case said I got plenty of time in between deaths and my job. If this is possible let me know
