Bit of a crazy idea

Post by staggindraggin » Sat Jul 12, 2014 5:44 am

So I was walking through the Mojave when I realized something the game really missed out on: horses. Rideable horses in the Mojave and Capital wastelands would be amazing. The closest thing I've found is a modders resource of a horse skeleton (found here)  unfortunately I have no experience with 3-D modeling and limited experience with the G.E.C.K. or really much of an idea how you could make this work. If someone here with the experience, and free time, would make TTW Rideable Horses (or even give me some guidelines of what I would have to do), I would be eternally grateful.

That's a great point. I'd like to take this time to counter that with a point of my own: Skyrim.

Skyrim's great and all (well

Skyrim's great and all (well minus some weird horse physics) but horses in the Wastelands would be so cool. I have XRE Cars! installed, but haven't made it to the Mojave yet and would really like a slower more end of the world-ish transport system.

By what I can see from that

By what I can see from that nexus link it seems like Kuroitsune is the best bet to get the horses going in the wastelands. He seems to be motivated and working on it so I would say that he will probably be able to make it happen much faster than anyone here would.

So I guess you just have to wait for it and see what happens.

dragon: I think what TJ was

dragon: I think what TJ was getting around to (and correct me if I'm wrong) was how bad horses were in Skyrim. I don't think they were THAT bad... but they left a lot to be desired.

In all honesty, I think this is a great idea, 'specially if the horses are mutated. 6 legged horses anyone? Brahmin could also be used, even if just temporarily.

Jax: I thought that mutated horses would be the way to go as well. There is a mod that adds a rideable brahmin (but the nexus is down so I can't find it) so the mechanics in that could be cannibalized at least temporarily.

From a lore standpoint, horses are extinct in Fallout. Ones in captivity couldn't take care of themselves, and wild herds became prey for mutant predators.

An FEV/radiation driven

An FEV/radiation driven descendent of a horse could exist though.

Only mutated by radiation. You can't lump FEV mutation with the rest of radiation-driven mutations in the wasteland.

This is interesting.
