Inquiry of the Dev Team on Mods they like

Post by paragonskeep » Mon Sep 09, 2013 3:26 am

Hello to the Dev team,

First thank you for all your time and effort, it is appreciated greatly.

On the FAQ it mentions a couple mods not to use, I'd like to know which mods you (as team members) recommend with TTW?

Is there a weather mod you recommend? Lighting? Etc?

I know you each have your own mods that you've done, but what are mods that you use and work well with TTW?

Thanks guys very appreciated.

If life is but a test, where's the damn answer key?!?!?

I'm not big on invasive or graphical mods. So I don't use many. I like mods that augment the game without being obvious. To that extent I LOVE Project Nevada. Except the Equipment module, seems pointless to me. And DarnUI. And that's it. I'm old school.

I originally played Fallout

Post by TJ » Mon Sep 09, 2013 4:32 am

I originally played Fallout on 360 (shame, I know. Couldn't always afford a rig that would run it.) so first and foremost I play with a controller. To that end xpadder is pretty much mandatory for me- Project Nevada Core's features on the Dpad. Combination of ILO/RLO for interior lighting. Still toying with weather mods for outside lighting/ effects URWL's pretty decent but needs alot of work for TTW.

I tend to rebuild my whole setup pretty regularly- Immersion mods, bugfix mods, enhance the core gameplay- that sort of thing. Wouldn't say I'm a loremonger, but I put a ton of time in on the original Fallouts so anything that brings TTW more in line with those are always in my load order.

Creature mods: Best I've found *that actually works with TTW* is MoMod, but again heavily modified to bring it more in line with the lore.

*shameless plug for the TTW Team*- TTWInteriors, several of Grib's mods, a couple by sesom, and any of the georgeous worldspaces TV builds are usually always in my load order. Oh, and some mod called Streetlights by SpeedyB coupled with Simple Street Lights Extra.

My project Dash is on Kickstarter!

He says, forgetting his own mod. For shame. And what about poor chuck? You don't like his Interiors? Harsh.

The version of fellout for

Post by thermador » Mon Sep 09, 2013 4:46 am

The version of fellout for ttw that's on our website is great for weather and lighting. Very dark nights, rain, sun, clouds, etc. Add on the convert FO3 Street Lights and Simple Street Lights for FNV.  Also NVSE Flashlight.

For graphics the NMC's texture packs for fallout 3 and also for FNV are great. Install the FO3 one and then overwrite with the FNV one.

For clothes, armor, and bodies I use breezes an type 3 as discussed in the FAQ. Plus Lings for TTW to get rid of ugly NPCs and A Familiar Friend to get rid of the arm pip boy.

Project Nevada works fine with TTW except the equipment module which creates a lot of duplicated items (its goal was o bring the fo3 items to fnv).

For weapons, I use the versions of EVE and WMX that are compatible with TTW, both are in the forums.

Delay DLC is a must have.

For added content, chucks ttw interiors blend seamlessly. So does Busworld.

Ok since moderators can now also put their favorite mods.

DarnUI... Nothing more cheeky

I sometimes test Chuck's mods and other times Gribble's things for TTW and I must say they are awesome laugh but usually I only have DarnUI on all the times cheeky.

But on a note there is another mod that I love laugh "GNR Radio Fixed Extended" with the songs from "GNR -- More Where That Came From" by OldManMose76, which seems to be gone from Nexus for some reason now surprise.

Having GNR playing 100 more lore friendly songs is really great laugh.

And for the New Vegas side there is "Extended New Vegas Radio Generator"

I rarely play the game, but when I do... lousy meme is lousy.

Anyway, I use PN of course, DarnUI and various patches against it to make it work on all menus.

Several of Pelinor's mods (aside from MCM, which is mandatory) I use Weapon Mod Menu and Quick Trade (which does not yet have a TTW patch).

Pretty much every one of Jazzisparis' mods: Selective Fire, Realistic Weapon Overheating, his companion control mod, and his new Fast-Travel Anywhere mod.

Aside from those I haven't really nailed anything else down, on account of not playing much ever. I tend to just try things out and add them to "the list" of mods I will use whenever I play the game.

I like to craft my game with small mods or make my changes myself but I use,

  • Darn UI

  • 3rd person camera fix

  • GNR extended

  • Flesh burning plasma

  • wearable backpack

  • NMC's textures (but I had to edit out some I didn't like)

  • Midriff leather armor

  • babe body replacer (A cup which seems to be gone from the nexus due to large breast fetishes.)

Including my mods I never run more then around 30 at a time and usually pack them in a way that I can disable them for TTW testing.

Edit I forgot about T3T's Icon mod love that one! laugh

Oh darn! I forgot that one too, I even have the file of it on my desktop and everything indecision.

And another one I forgot before, a mod that makes MZ alien objects pickable cheeky (I love MZ even though most people hate it.)

First of all, simply

Post by TrickyVein » Mon Sep 09, 2013 11:47 am

First of all, simply centering the 3rd person camera I feel is essential for wanting to play from that vantage point: Centered 3rd Person Camera

Then, New Vegas needs at least some kind of weather mod to remove the memory of what the game looks like, unmodded. I use Western Sky - Darker Nights. It doesn't add a gazillion different weather types like some other weather mods, so it's very lightweight. What it does is replace the sky with a high quality, absolutely stunning cloudscape and overhauls the visual appearance of the Mojave (no brown tint; brighter and more colorful just like the desert feels like it should be). I think Fallout 3 looks fine out of the box so I've never used any weather replacers for the CW. Also not a fan of any texture replacers because on the whole they feel unorganized and inconsistent.

I play with the The Pipboy 2500, the only real replacer I use and am quite fond of The Crossbow, which is the only extra, added weapon that I have aside from those included with PN's Equipment Module. I guess that's not true because I also grab WMX.

XFO's AI Revamp makes the game much more interesting.

Aside from those, I'm a big fan of small mods that do a lot to increase so-called 'immersion' like adding destruction data for bottles (Destructibles) and Drugs are Bad, Mkay which adds appropriate visual effects to taking different drugs.
