Mod Request: Lore-Friendly Fallout 3 mods

Post by Ein » Sat Feb 07, 2015 9:56 am

I keep looking on the nexus and all I ever find is disappointment. I have the hand full of stuff that's been converted that seems okay. Vanessa, Moira, Antagonizer, Alton... I have Vagis Quo but don't 100% trust it, though when it comes to Fallout 3 it's almost a must given it's the only Fo3 mod that seems to be on the level of stuff like NV Bounties and such.

Grib's Alternate Role Playing Start would also be awesome. And I've been working on converting Malika Gyspsy Companion, though I have no idea what I'm doing.

Just... Yeah. So much great stuff for NV, but Fo3 doesn't seem to have jack really. And all that's really getting worked on it feels like is gameplay stuff. It's frustrating, this is as much a vent post as a request. Sorry.

seems like we should create

seems like we should create lore-friendly mods take place in DC, but they have NV.esm and TTW.esm as master so they only work with TTW..... so we can use NVSE and functions of new vegas

You probably already have TTW

You probably already have TTW Interiors from Chucksteel, to me it is one of the best lore friendly mods for FO3 (The DC Interiors part of it of course).

I don't know how much of lore friendly this one is but people seem to love Mothership Zeta Crew (I actually like MZ DLC but after I beat it and installed MZC in the past to see what everyone was praising about it I went back to the ship walked around, talked to people and then got rid of the mod, I am one of the maybe 4 people that do not like MZC mod) unfortunately the conversion of MZC seems to need to be made by a really dedicated and quite knowledgeable modder and there is still not a good conversion of it yet.

To me GNR Enhanced is a must, but that doesn't really bring any new quests or exploration to the table.

I am with you when you say there are many disappointing mods for FO3, I never played with many mods before I got FNV because I had the same problem...

I'm not really a fan of MZC

I'm not really a fan of MZC either, Rise. It's well outside my tolerance for lore-breaking. I mean, I've not played a mod yet that's 100% fitting to Fallout or the setting in general. Something not at all helped by Bethesda's increasing tendency to flanderize everything they do anymore.

Admittedly, to begin with I'm extremely picky about lore stuff. Even the really good stuff, stuff I like is still a bit... Well, no one is going to win any awards for writing on a mod. At this point my criteria is almost down to "Please don't use rape as backstory, think through what you're doing, and try not to screw with existing lore." But it's amazing how many mods that still excludes. MZC, WarTrash, and Dogtown being the most notable examples that come readily to mind.

At any rate, I know I'm just overly critical. But I'd still like to see some lore friendly mods that take advantage of the Capital Wasteland not being the Mojave. I'm open to suggestions for stuff, but in general Fo3 modding is a long list of "Comming soon!" from 2010 with no updates since. So just in general, it would be nice to see some stuff getting made that takes advantage of the MAIN feature of TTW...

and while you're modding,

and while you're modding, recruit fo3 modders to TTW to fill in gaps?  all mods are the reflection of the modders, so if you're finding the mods to be out of alignment with your desires, then you'll have to find modders more in line with your thinking.

but the first step of that is to start modding yourself.  the vast majority of us started modding because we couldn't find what we were looking for in mods and decided to knuckle down and make our own.

perms:  either a full fireworks display spelling out "Puppettron Made This" anytime a user accesses my content in-game, or just give me credit somewhere.
