The last major update before xmas last year broke NVSR and it hasn't yet been resolved. So yes, if your W10 is up-to-date, you probably shouldn't be using NVSR until that is fixed. I know my laptop has this problem.
And you should always turn off all auto saves in the game. CASM adds the ability to make periodic saves and its own form of quick saves that are safe. You can also always use full saves by hitting Esc and clicking Save > New Save.
