Alright, so, I know this first post won't have every piece of information required, as I'm making it as I re-install, to sort of double as a log of what I'm doing, but I'm making that log here just in case one of you TTW wizards sees it and can identify some early mistakes that I'm missing.
Long story short, i've attempted about 10 installs of TTW but I always have trouble with crashes and black-hole loading screens in the Capital wasteland. I'm going for another go, and this time trying to get some help as I go with it.
I don't have a load order just yet, but will be posting one once I have one. (have just uninstalled FO3, TTW, all mods, all extenders, all mod mangers. Short of a reformat, this is as clean as I can get it.)
I do have specs, and I imagine my ancient dinosaur computer has something to do with it. At the time of fallout new Vegas, it was a spiffy fancy machine, but now its kind of a dusty old dinosaur. In theory, it should be able to handle anything FO3 or NV so long as I don't do anything crazy graphically or have like 100+ load order. Perhaps there's something I'm missing through my install that could make such an old girl handle such a big mod better?
I have almost no performance issues when I play. No stutters, slowdowns, anything. I just have crashes. Lots and lots of crashes, unplayable amounts of crashes, and this is after all the low-hanging fruit like optimizing .ini, NVAC, NVSR
I also seem to encounter black-hole loading screens far too often. It starts loading and will never stop. I don't mind a decent load time, I know i've got a 10 year old computer. That's not what i'm talking about. I'm talking about literally never ending loading screens. Have tested for 1 hour+.
Crashes and eternal loads seem to happen at random. Cannot pinpoint a specific trigger.
Specs:
H-P Model p6674y
AMD Phenom (tm) II X4 830 2.80 GHz
RAM 6.00 GB
Windows 10 64 bit x64
AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series
Realtek High Definition Audio
Plan for install:
Install steam FO3
Install steamNV
Install low-hanging fruit crash fixers to native data directory (NVAC, NVSR, NVSE, JIP, 4GB patcher)
Install MO. seems like the cleanest way to tick mods on and off.
I don't need or care about texture replacers or ENBS or anything crazy. Mods i want would be ones that add more stuff to do and deepen mechanics, stuff like STUN and Project Ultimatum.
As I go through above process, will check back on this post to see if anyone has some advice. Thanks! Load order will incrementally be shared in following posts.
