No, it can't launch through a manager using NVSE or the original client, with both NMM, FOMM, and MO.

Sorry, unrelated, but can you explain why an overlay needs to be specifically disabled with MO? I'm fascinated by your comment. I do all of the things you say not to do, that's because I take measures to bypass those issues, while still using UAC. I am happy to report as well that MO still works great on Windows 10 LTSB (Long Term Servicing Branch).

Steam overlay still works great for me, but I'm assuming you're referring to some sort of performance degradation? If I recall, Roy mentioned that he disabled it because of performance/crashing reasons. (Don't quote me on it.)

Sorry to derail.
In general any code that makes calls to an existing process will interfere with MO because MO uses a 'hook' to modify the executable when it is in memory and the more calls to that code the greater chance of something trying to change the wrong version, ie. in memory non-modified vs modified executable.

We have numerous user errors reported and their problems stemmed from using overlays. As soon as they disabled them, the problems vanished. Clearly from your comments you've managed to avoid any issues, so kudos to you, but generally speaking we advise against them.

@CrypticStrat what version of Windows are you on? A number or reports have started saying the latest Creator update of Win10 has broken MO.
That's what I guessed your answer would be based on steam overlay using hooks, I didn't want to seem dumb so I didn't put that in there! Good to know if I have any issues. (What I did and I don't recommend to anyone, was to take permission of the entire fallout folders,  remove read only flags from folder/contense, use nirsoft's alternatestreamview tool to remove any file block flags/streams in general and everything runs great, no hastling from UAC or weird behavior.)

Thanks for your response!

I am on Windows 10 Creator's Editon, but I don't see any glaring issues with Mod Organizer.

So I fixed New Vegas and start up the game and I see "A Tale of Two Wastelands" on the title screen. I load the game in Freeside, and I can enter Union Station no problem. I buy a ticket, and head into the train. I heard that you needed to power the generators, but I didn't power the generators, and I started up the breakers and got the "Two Weeks Later" section.

But here's my problem. When I get off the train into Union Station, I explore every nook and cranny, but there's no exit. On my Local Map, I see three doors labeled "Union Station", but when I try and open it, it reads "Inaccessible". I can't find any other ways to get out of the station.

In Fallout 3, I head into The Mall Northeast and I get into the Metro, but the same problem for Fallout 3 occurs - boulders blocking the tunnels into the deeper parts of the section. I turn off collision, and when I phase through the rocks, nothing is there.

Very interesting. So by this I can conclude that it isn't the Creator's Edition per se' but rather some setting those users have set, now to figure out what that might be. Thank you.

Overlay's screw with the game

Post by RoyBatty » Wed Aug 09, 2017 4:01 am

Overlay's screw with the game in general, not just MO.

As for the tunnel leading to the station, did you "clean" your esm files?

Inside the station in the big rotunda area, upstairs doors will lead into the station. This is when you come from Vegas.

You *do* have the latest NVSE installed correct? And you are either using the NVSE launcher, or have patched your game with my 4GB patcher correct?

I have patched my game with the 4GB Patch, and I am indeed using the latest NVSE.
