Nearly Unplayable- Game is Running in Super Speed!

Post by Overvisor » Sun Jul 30, 2017 4:28 pm

For some odd reason, the whole game seems to be running in fast-forward. I would guess anywhere from 1.3x to 1.5x normal speed. The menus, gravity, pipboy, animations, running around, npcs, everything. The character's animations don't match what they are saying during cutscenes and it breaks sequences everywhere. (Couldn't even leave the vault normally, had to tcl out to make sure it wasn't vault-related)

I have only seen 1 post on here that seems to reference the same or a similar issue, but that thread had only a handful of replies and none of them were solutions.

I just installed the mod and I am only using bugfix / hotfix plugins.

Hardware/OS:

i7 7700k 4.5-4.9

16 GB RAM, DDR4

GTX 970

I hope my problem isn't so uncommon that I won't get any help :P

Your load order is all jacked

Post by TAWM » Sun Jul 30, 2017 4:42 pm

Your load order is all jacked up for one.  Where is your Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 DLC esms?

If your using TTW with the ultimate edition of New Vegas (you need Fallout 3 GOTY as well) your load order will be this

  1. FalloutNV.esm

  2. DeadMoney.esm

  3. HonestHearts.esm

  4. OldWorldBlues.esm

  5. LonesomeRoad.esm

  6. GunRunnersArsenal.esm

  7. CaravanPack.esm

  8. ClassicPack.esm

  9. MercenaryPack.esm

  10. TribalPack.esm

  11. Fallout3.esm

  12. Anchorage.esm

  13. ThePitt.esm

  14. BrokenSteel.esm

  15. PointLookout.esm

  16. Zeta.esm

  17. TaleOfTwoWastelands.esm

Everything else will go after Tale of TwoWastelands.esm

They were disabled by default

Post by Overvisor » Sun Jul 30, 2017 5:08 pm

They were disabled by default, and I thought it was purposefully done by the mod. I will enable them and try again, then report back with the results.

EDIT: It appears to have not had any effect to the game. As a side not, the Fallout 3 DLC was still working despite them not being activated in the load order previously.

The only two other thing I

Post by TAWM » Sun Jul 30, 2017 5:27 pm

The only two other things I can think of off the top of my head is to disable the reputations plugin since that is a beta and it has issues with it and to also ask when you installed TTW did you run adminstrator on it when installing?

Also if you want to use TTWoptions you need to download the MCM mod off Nexus.

The only time I've heard of

Post by jlf65 » Sun Jul 30, 2017 5:39 pm

The only time I've heard of an issue with everything running super-fast was people who were using the JIP version of Awesome Crippling Affects for NV. The script in it has a tendancy to keep adding to the speed multiplier rather than simply bumping it once, making everything super-fast.

Could I have a link to it? My searching did not bring up anything that looks relevant.

This problem is not caused by TTW, so no moving around the LO will fix it (unless you have a different mod that might cause this, but since your LO doesn't show any other mods we can exclude that as a problem).

TAWM is right, your LO always need to have the FNV and the FO3 and DLCs active for TTW to work, and it needs to be in the same position as was previously posted:

  1. FalloutNV.esm

  2. DeadMoney.esm

  3. HonestHearts.esm

  4. OldWorldBlues.esm

  5. LonesomeRoad.esm

  6. GunRunnersArsenal.esm

  7. CaravanPack.esm

  8. ClassicPack.esm

  9. MercenaryPack.esm

  10. TribalPack.esm

  11. Fallout3.esm

  12. Anchorage.esm

  13. ThePitt.esm

  14. BrokenSteel.esm

  15. PointLookout.esm

  16. Zeta.esm

  17. TaleOfTwoWastelands.esm

The only exception to this LO is the Courier's Stash plugins (CaravanPack.esm, ClassicPack.esm, MercenaryPack.esm, TribalPack.esm ) you don't need to have those active unless you want to play with them, of course.

Now, what might be causing this issue is the VSync. First check to see if your ini files have this setting:

iFPSClamp=0

If that setting has any number after the = that is not 0, set it to 0.

If the setting is already 0 or if changing it didn't fix the problem, get NVSR (actually you should play with NVSR always because it helps with game performance).

  1. Get NVSR

  2. Run the game

  3. Exit the game

  4. NVSR will create a ini file (in your Fallout New Vegas Data/NVSE/Plugins Folder), open that ini file

  5. Locate a setting for frame rate or frame cap (I can't remember from the top of my head)

  6. Set the value of that setting to something between 40 and 59 (results vary depending on users, so I can't really tell you the exact value)

  7. Save the changes to the ini file

  8. Try the game again

I will also link to the great performance guide we have on this site, check it out to get the best performance for FNV/TTW (not really related to your problem, but it is great information).

Try as I might, even after

Post by Overvisor » Tue Aug 01, 2017 2:24 am

Try as I might, even after doing everything you suggested I was not able to fix the issue. It must have something to do with VSync, because the screen tearing is off the charts. However, enabling / disabling VSnyc did not change the look of the game or the speed at which it runs. In addition, I believe that the high game speed is directly related to the framerate. I cannot seem to cap the framerate at all for some reason, and it locks at about 99 without much deviation. Perhaps if I can find some way to force a cap on the framerate, that would fix my issue? (As I said before, changing the values in the NVSR ini did not actually add a framerate cap as it was supposed to)

Progress Update:

Post by Overvisor » Tue Aug 01, 2017 3:58 am

Progress Update:

I managed to get the game running at a normal speed by forcing a 60 FPS limit with bandicam. I'm not sure why Bandicam works and NVSR doesn't, but that's how it is.

HOWEVER.

I have unbearable screen tearing now. Using the mouse to look around, everything is silky smooth except for a hard, jagged line moving up the screen. It resembles an old VHS tape distorion. It's screen tearing like I've never seen, yet VSync is turned on. I've heard that VSync can get forced off even though it is supposed to be on, and maybe that's the case, either way I solved one problem and made another.
