"Unable to Read Beyond Stream

Post by MrNexx » Thu Jan 05, 2017 3:02 pm

I have been attempting to create the fomod through the installer, but am encountering the "Unable to read beyond Stream" error when attempting to load Fallout 3 - meshes.

I am running:

Windows Vista Home Premium

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33mhz processor

8 GB of RAM

Both FNV and F3-GOTY are Steam versions, installed in the usual steam locations. The Installer is 2.7.5.0

I've cleared the temp folder, tried changing the location of TTW install (currently set to C:\TTW), and always run it as an admin.

I should also add I've read the previous thread on this (https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/unable-read-beyond-end-stream-error), and not been able to accomplish more.

Do you have around 30GB of free disk?

Also make sure your antivirus/firewall are not blocking the installer in any way (there have been users whose antivirus/firewall/any other security software was preventing the installer from working properly). Best try is to exit or close those programs while installing TTW (don't forget to turn them back on after it is installed).

And last but not least, make sure your Fallout 3 files/folders are not set to "read only" on their properties.

Hope you can get this working soon. smiley

Just tried them all... more than 100 gigs free, avast disabled, and disabled read-only.

Damn. Well, let's be nuts and try manual.

So, this is embarassing.

I gave it another go last night, fresh, ground up. New installs of EVERYTHING, its mother, and its little dog, too. Fresh downloads from steam and TTW.com. I unpack the mod, notice a weird message, try to run the installer, and it stalls on meshes again. But, then, the boy is crying and the wife needs sleep, so I leave it alone.

When I got home today, I checked my copy of 7zip. It is version 4. From 2008. I have downloaded version *16*, and run the installer pretty well. It's cheerily doing all the things it refused to do before.
