Strange Light Source Bug

Hey all.

On certain lights such as in the Citdadel / Rivet City I'm getting this weird glitch where the projected light is there but the light source itself isn't. I'm kinda pulling my hair out over this as I have no idea where it's coming from. I've tried:

*Deactivating my load order and using only vanilla TTW

*Reinstalling my game and using vanilla TTW with no other mods (so it seemingly has nothing to do with the other mods I use)

*Using the reference cleaner for my current save file

*Using loose meshes from the vanilla FO3 BSA in case it has trouble accessing it for some reason

The only thing I can think of is that it's something inherently wrong with my save file, there's something wrong with my standalone FO3 game that the TTW installer extracts from or something to do with my ini settings but even then I'm grasping at straws. The identical floodlight / overhead light statics appear in other parts of the game but not in RC / the Citadel.

Any suggestions? Cheers.

Can you post your load order

Can you post your load order on pastebin.com and give the link here. Using the reference cleaner is a bad idea. Did you "clean" your DLC files?

Apologies if derailing thread

Post by Bandy » Tue Sep 13, 2016 5:55 pm

Apologies if derailing thread but since it is brought up here, I've seen another post mentioning NOT to clean DLC files of ITM's and unfortunately saw it too late.  Coming over from Skyrim I've cleaned my ITM's...  So far no FO3/TTW issues that I'm aware of, but would doing a steam recovery of NV esm's be advised?  Or just keep playing?

I do see an occasional random flash of white spots (and why I looked at this thread) about the size of a fingernail on screen.  Normally I'd think it an artifact of overheated GPU but I have a hybrid GTX980Ti 6GB with watercooler, and it stays cool.  Any advice appreciated.

Sure, here you go (inactive files are part of my bashed patch):

And yeah, I tend to use xEdit on Beth DLC that has ITMs / deleted refs because LOOT mentions it, which never has caused me any problems; I looked it up now though and according to various authors it's a pretty bad idea so I'll do a backup and reinstall the vanilla dirty plugins and see if it helps.

Yeah don't clean the Fallout

Yeah don't clean the Fallout Games, and especially not TTW. There's never been any proof of this doing anything positive, I searched and searched all over the internet forums about it. There's been multiple times where people reported bugs with things here and reverting to the vanilla files (and TTW ones) fixed the issues immediately.

You CAN fix the deleted navmeshes in Broken Steel and The Pitt, and I would recommend doing that. But only from a new game.

If you do undelete and disable refs, go into the xEdit settings and turn OFF set z -30000, this will break Fallout too. It creates Havok bounds errors and causes the "junknado" or "singularity" bug.

Alright, I'm using the original versions of the DLC but no luck, the floodlights / overhead lights are still screwed. Take the Citadel A Ring for example:

Think it has anything to do with multiple mods trying to access the same cell? I noticed when I installed your compatibility patch for New Vegas Bounties it caused the streetlight nearest Jasper in Freeside (added by Electro-city) to disappear in a similar fashion. Might've been something that was already there that I just didn't notice before though.

It seems those fixtures are being disabled by something, if the meshes were missing you would get red diamonds.

I think it might be a problem with too many plugins in your data folder, even if they aren't enabled the game engine still parses them. Additionally BASH does not work correctly with TTW because it doesn't like the Fallout 3 esm plugin versions being 0.94 and it's probably not parsing the records properly. This should be fixed in the next TTW version.
