Fallout TTW was starting in New Vegas

Post by BrotherofCats » Thu Aug 11, 2016 4:03 am

But now it won't start at all.  I was running TTW with a bunch of mods, but about four hours into the game it was crashing every couple of minutes, so I decided to do a clean install and start over following all the suggestions.  I wanted to create a couple of characters in vault 101 and get them to the surface before installing any mods.  Made the clean install, then tried to install TTW through Fomm, without any luck, kept getting the sharp 7 zip bug, and had to do a manual install of both fomods.  Started a game to get the ini files going, then installed then tried to start a game, and kept ending up at Doc Mitchell's.  Put in the TTW optionals, thinking that had something to do with it, including the StartupMenu.esp.  Still at Doc Mitchell's.  Edited all of the ini according to the instructions, the two in my folders in the users area and the one in the game directory.  Now, when I try to start a new game and hit yes, I go right back to the start up menu.  No new game, no movie, nothing.  This is getting really frustrating, and though I really want to play this game, it's probably not worth raising my blood pressure trying to get the damned thing to run.  Load order, if you need that.

Again, I tried it without any of the optional mods, and it was working with 96 plugins before, so I'm not sure what is going on.  Any help before I pull out my hair would be appreciated.

The ini edits were not done

The ini edits were not done or not sticking because of the manual install.

Double check step 2 here https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/alpha-download-v294b#manualinstallation

the 7zip sharp error can usually be fixed by either cleaning out your temp folders with disk cleanup, or making sure you have the latest .net redistributable installed.

The ini edits were done after the manual install and they are still there when I check.

And when I downloaded net

Post by BrotherofCats » Thu Aug 11, 2016 2:30 pm

And when I downloaded net framework 4.5 and tried to install, the message box came up saying that 4.5 or higher was already installed on my computer.  So it seems that this was not the reason FOMM isn't installing TTW.

OK then it's probably not

OK then it's probably not enough free space on your drive then.

The startup quest ini setting is the one which controls where the game starts, if the setting is present in the ini files then it's not possible to start in NV unless using the plugin which allows you to choose.

Over 780 GB of disk space.

Over 780 GB of disk space.  So that is not the problem.

OK, figured out that part

Post by BrotherofCats » Fri Aug 12, 2016 5:23 am

OK, figured out that part after searching the net.  Turned off my anti-virus and anti-malware, and suddenly FOMM installed the fomod.  I tried to start the game with FNV4GB and could start a new game, and checking to see if NVSE was installed showed that it wasn't.  So I started the game from NVSE and was able to play through the vault twice to develop and save two characters, so that I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of the vault again.  Then started a game in FNV4GB and when I loaded my games outside the vault, I started in Good Springs.  Really frustrating, and I'm not really sure if I want to keep working at this.

Started up the game from NVSE

Post by BrotherofCats » Fri Aug 12, 2016 5:26 am

Started up the game from NVSE and I was in the Washington Wasteland outside of the vault.  So it seems that FNV4GB is sending me to Good Springs?  Doesn't make any sense.  I want to use the higher memory, since I have a 32 GB machine it doesn't make sense to only use 2 gigs.
