Fresh TTW Start, New Vegas intro instead of Vault 101

Post by lastspartacus » Fri Jan 29, 2016 3:00 pm

Im running with an i5/980ti/16gig ram rig, just (hopefully) successfully installed TTW after downloading FO3 and NV off of steam.  Using MO, everything seems to be in order (don't know if TTW should go before or after DLC plugins in load order) but when I start a new game I am taken straight to the NV intro rather than FO3 as I have read it should be.

I did not check the optional startup box on installation, and my start screen says 'Tale of Two Wastelands'.  I'm running through the 4gb version of NVSE.

check your ini settings (there are 3)

I don't use MO but I think it handles them differently.

If life is but a test, where's the damn answer key?!?!?

Make sure to go into both your profile and game ini settings since each of your MO profiles use the game's as a template and switch it to CW as written below.

Step 2

You need to make an edit to your .INI files so that you start the game properly.  This is normally done by the .fomod when it is installed but sometimes for some reason a manual edit is necessary:

  • The files you're looking for are C:\Users\YourName\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Fallout.ini andC:\Users\YourName\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\FalloutPrefs.ini

  • You may also want to make the changes in FalloutDefault.ini in the game folder as well, if you use the normal game launcher for some reason.  Using that launcher overwrites Fallout.ini with the values in FalloutDefault.ini every time it's run.

  • Make these changes:

    • SCharGenQuest = 001FFFF8

    • sIntroMovie = (yes this one is blank on purpose, it needs to be blank)

    • bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles = 1

Those instructions can be found in the manual installation part in the download page or you can check our FAQ that says the same smiley.

I am glad it is fixed for you now, hope you enjoy TTW yes.

SCharGenQuest=00102037

My ini has this value instead of 1fff8 but I can choose start location from the startup menu.

Do I still need to change it?

If you can choose starting location then it is working as it should.
