Unable to install TTW, windows cannot find the .exe file

Post by AdmiralHip » Thu Oct 01, 2015 8:43 pm

Hi there,

Hopefully someone here can help me. I have extracted the .7zip file to one of my partition drives (D:) to the folder TTW. However, when I attempt to run the installer as an administrator, I get the message "Windows cannot find 'D:\TTW\Tale of Two Wastelands Installer.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I made sure that all the files were extracted, and it is not in my NV directory. I have attempted to delete the TTW download and reinstall. I am unable to save it to another drive (i.e. C:) because my extractor will not even open in the C: drive. I should mention that both F3 and FNV are both installed on the D: drive.

I tried looking for similar issues but I was unable to find anyone else who had experienced this.

OS: Windows 10

Processor: Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz  2.49GHz

Installed RAM: 16.0 GB

And it's a 64-bit operating system, and x64-based processor.

I have the steam download of Fallout 3 GOTY.

I am using FOMM for my mod manager, although I haven't been able to use it yet in the install process.

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

EDIT: I was unable to find any install log, so I can't attach it.

EDIT 2: I managed to fix it. For some reason, my extractor wasn't extracting everything properly. So I used a different extractor (WinRar) and now it is installing properly.

7zip & WinRar are pretty much the standard apps :)

Thanks for posting how you fixed the issue.
