As I said...  Before TTW both

As I said...  Before TTW both games ran fine on their own with mods.  And your sarcasm isnt being helpful.  I've actually found this "community site" to be really closed minded and rude.  Alot of your "guides" are poorly written and need alot of interpretation to get stuff done.  Just some friendly feedback.

You're more than welcome to toss your own versions in the ring. TTW is more art than it is science, in case you haven't noticed. Different people have different experiences with the game. You are also running TWO games in one, at least data-wise. Your video card may have run the individual games just fine but you're increasing the workload by quite a bit. You're also utilizing NMC... Yeah. That's going to overwork your game.

That said, a clean install plus base game ALONE should run just fine. And MO is a great program for keeping your game squeaky clean. A little bit of a learning curve but powerful nonetheless. Let us know how it turns out. And again, the team can't identify every single problem with mods. That's why on the alpha download page they have the following addendum:
Use of mods, especially in large numbers, can lead to unforeseen problems. We suggest you keep your load order short until we declare the alpha phase over. During beta phase, we will start focusing on mod compatibility and troubleshooting. If you choose to run TTW with large amounts of mods, be warned that the development team will probably not have the time to help you resolve your issues.
I can see your point about

CD Talmas:  I can see your point about running twice the data.  It doesnt make sense in my head but I'm not a comp sci major nor a programmer.  To me, if I'm on the DC wasteland side of the map, the NV side shouldnt be "active" with the exception of the engine and vice versa.  I'll try my new installs and let you know.  Thank you for a more in depth answer than "potato".

Mariofan:  I wouldnt be as

Mariofan:  I wouldnt be as annoyed if:

1.  Roy had actually taken the time to read my initial post where I mentioned modifying my ini and prefs files and following the performance guide.

and 2. I wasnt getting one word answers such as "update" and "potato"  His comments come off as sarcastic and elitist.  I get that he's done some amazing work and yes he probably was annoyed to have to answer another "stupid newb" question.  If he doesnt want to answer the questions...dont.  Giving one word answers doesnt help.

I've also been fighting with my game running for 10 minutes at a time and crapping out for about a week now.  This Mod is THE best mod ever created and I want to enjoy it.  I tried to figure out the problem myself first by researching the forums for folks who've had the same issues.  I followed the performance guide which seemed to make the issue worse.  When I couldnt find the answers I was looking for I put in the requested information that they asked.  I should get some better worded responses.  Especially from an actual team member.  This is an instance where creating a delegated "community manager" who takes on the newb questions and leaves Devs time to actually dev might be something the team should consider.  I'm not trying to cause trouble. This is a site whose rules specifically request to keep things friendly.  To then to have a senior member give half answers and passive aggressive snark is annoying and rude.

Like CDTalmas said, TTW is

Post by RoyBatty » Sun Sep 06, 2015 3:01 am

Like CDTalmas said, TTW is two games, not one, including all the DLC. This more than doubles the strain on resources and adding heavy mods on top of it increases the strain even further. Like we have in the FAQ, get the game running without mods first in a stable manner. TTW has been tested extensively by our lead tester who plays with a completely vanilla install.

Instability and crashes are 99% of the time caused by mods or user error, this is just our experience.

Excuse me if I came off snarky, but using NMC's packs when you have a very very low end video card seems like a no brainer to me, uninstall them and any other resource intensive mods and see if that helps your issues. This is standard troubleshooting practice.

A lot of time has been put into the guides around here, as TTW is they are WIP, YMMV.

Once you start adding mods, then the responsibility falls upon you to manage your game and get it stable on your system. We can only provide advice and a limited amount of support, this is not our day job. This isn't nexus, we can't and won't hire support staff to be a "community manager". There is endless resources on the internet specific to modding both Fallout 3 and Fallout NV. Again, it is the USERS responsibility to take control of their game and modding it. You'll find the community (here and elsewhere) much more willing to help those who help themselves. It's really not that hard to learn, tech savvy or not. If you aren't willing to invest the time yourself, I don't understand why you think someone else would.

Apology accepted Roy. Sorry

Post by plapete » Mon Sep 07, 2015 3:24 am

Apology accepted Roy. Sorry for my side of things.  It had been more than a week of fighting with it and I was in an extremely foul mood.  If I knew more about Modding in general I'd volunteer to help on the community side.

As an update.  The game is now running smoother than anything with the medium nmc packs and I was able to pick up where I left off in Nelson!  I am having a minor issue with my Truck base but I'm looking into it now.  Thanks again.
