TTW running out of memory

Post by z3rak » Sat Aug 08, 2015 2:00 pm

So i started modding my game a few days ago, and just when i thought i was done modding and was ready to get back into the game, i started getting the "OUT OF MEMORY" error after the game reaches 2.5 gb usage.

Before anyone asks, i'm using 4GB 1.9,NVAC,NVSR,The built in purging, and the NVSE heap thing, fixed the enb i'm using to reduce system memory to try to reduce the crashing. Completely removing the enb seem to cause the game to reach 2.5gb faster.(I also did everything from the TTW performance guide.)

I'm not sure if the 4GB launcher is working though, i added it through mod organizer, and added -laaexe .\FalloutMO.exe to the arguments, but the strange thing is how it has been hooking up my enb ever since i upgraded to windows 10, it never did that without adding the -extradll command on 8.1.

Heres my load order: Wouldn't line itself up, so im adding the MO load order file instead.

I know for a fact i'm not having any mod conflicts and just to let you know, i was using most of these mods for the normal FNV version before reinstalling for ttw after upgrading to windows 10. You also might see that i have a few files that are TTW versions like streetlights and project beauty, but i'm using the ttw fallout 3 only versions for those. I also downloaded all the needed patches for every mod that needs it, sorted the load order, and added a merge patch. I'm also using NMC's texture pack for F3 and FNV, i used the TTW tool provided by Roy to clean them up, i also have ojo buenos environmental textures overwriting NMC's, MG's clutter, bornagain ttw, wasteland hd clothing.   ANY help would be greatly appreciated.   Here is my PC setup if that even matters: Windows 10 Pro 64bit, 16GB Kingston HyperX 1866mhz memory, Msi Gaming GTX 970, Amd Fx-8350 4.5 ghz(Might not be the best for a game like fallout, but i'm getting 60 fps most of the time with Overgrowth enb.) Samsung 850 pro for the OS and drivers, 1tb wd black for games and 1tb harddrive for random sh*t. I probably forgot to list a few things, but as you can see my hardware is not the problem here.   Once again, any help would be appreciated.

NMC and such HD material

NMC and such HD material increases memory usage drastically. If you can, I'd try running without them to see what happens. Also, Windows 10 seems to be causing lots of issues with TTW lately. Win 10 needs updated drivers amongst other things.

The weird thing is how i was able to run all these textures before plus most of the mods, but the new vegas versions. And i wouldn't exactly call 2.5gb a lot of memory. I also have all the latest drivers installed on my pc. Not sure what the problem could be.

It's Windows 10 and perhaps our latest drivers are not fully optimized for the OS?  And they may not be until the OS is fully released in its entirety next year and/or Service Pack 1.  Yes, none of us have the full Windows 10 release.

Service packs are only a compilation of updates though.

It is really both past

It is really both past updates and new changes when the SP is released.  But really, it's Windows 10 that is causing the issue and there is no fix for it at this time other than downgrading or removing some FX mod(s).

New windows version have historically been a pile of crap on release and usually are usable around service pack 1. However Windows 10 won't be getting a service pack, so it'll probably be a year or so before drivers are matured and they've got the major kinks in the OS worked out.

Although I must admit, Windows 10 public release is the best Windows I've seen even though it's not the full OS ... lol

Well, i enabled reduceSystemMemoryUsage, it seems to have sorted out the "out of memory" thing, but instead it's causing small stutters when turning around quickly from time to time... Guess it's better than nothing.
