my saved file when launched puts me in nv vs the megaton

so when i launched my game it crashed after about three hours of game today (9 July) that was on top of twenty hours on a previous file which is corrupt and wont launch i get the infinite loading loop for the 20hr file. when i load the 23hr auto save in megaton it places my character in New Vegas, but the character is reset back to square one with non of my gear, skills and s.p.e.c.i.a.l. reset to base levels, all of my perks gone, and any quest progression lost. i need help with a solution. i would like to recover the 23hr file if possible but if i can't do that then i will accept the 20 hour file recovery as a last ditched solution any other save file was really early in game were i was messing around with karma and certain choices in game.

That crash that you're talking about is a vanilla issue IIRC and has happened to me on more than one occasion using the auto save. I'd recommend getting CASM for saving and disabling the auto saves.
