Game crashes when I enter Rivet City

Post by jasa159 » Sat Jul 04, 2015 6:44 pm

System info

My fallout 3 is Game of the year.

Currently I am trying to get into Rivet City. When I attempted to enter It fails. It goes to black screen and my automatic save is corrupted (so I assume something in rivet city is corrupting my game). I have to crash my computer because afterwards my computer becomes unresponsive. I attempt going to the stairwell and same thing happens. So it is just in general. As far as I can see this is the only place this happens. When I first encountered this problem I uninstalled all of my mods. It has been several weeks since then because my original post was blocked by the spam filter, and was unpublished. I have added FNV4GB, and NVCA since then, still nothing. I used console to skip to doctor li's lab but it still crashes and corrupts.

Any ideas what is going on

The autosave mechanism is

The autosave mechanism is known to be broken. Use CASM instead, and try not to save when going through doors etc.

Ok I switch to CASM back

Post by jasa159 » Sun Jul 05, 2015 3:10 am

Ok I switch to CASM back during the original thread when talking to someone in the chat room. Been using it for 2 weeks and love it. The issue isn't saving, only brought that up to show my game becomes corrupted. The issue is when I enter in it stops working. It isn't the saving it is the game. When I teleported in through console commands my companions and I teleport in and I am there for a frame before I freeze up.

Some mod is causing the issue

Some mod is causing the issue, likely an armor or weapon mod. Or perhaps you removed a mod that put something there and now it cannot be found.

Only mods I had on when I

Post by jasa159 » Sun Jul 05, 2015 4:17 am

Only mods I had on when I first was encountering the issue, was Project Nevada, Willow, and Ties that Bind, and of course TTW. Don't think I had any weapon and armor mods on for it.

May I ask how I would fix this if so?

I need this to contiune the main mission.

You're the only person that

You're the only person that seems to be having an issue here, so I don't know what to advise.

I can't help with a solution

Post by Risewild » Sun Jul 05, 2015 9:00 am

I can't help with a solution so I am sorry for that, the only thing I can do is say that it doesn't happen in my vanilla TTW game, so it is not a TTW problem.

Hope this helps pinpoint the problem.

Not sure what you mean with this. Are you saying that you got the issue even without any mods? Or are you saying that you uninstalled all your mods, then reinstalled all your mods and still get the issue?

Also, not sure if you get the issue only when trying to enter Rivet City (And which part btw? All parts?). What do you mean with "going to the stairwell"? Do you mean the one on the other side of the bridge?

Anyway, if you want to pin it down, I'd recommend removing all mods except for the core TTW install and see how it goes. If it works then, you now it's connected to another mod and can add them one by one until you find out what's causing it. If it happens with just the core TTW set up, something must be up with that install, so then you probably should start from scratch.

I've seen a huge increase in

Post by duckyduckyquackquack » Sun Jul 05, 2015 10:59 am

I've seen a huge increase in the number of times my games lock up or crash when entering certain buildings. Makes the game pretty much impossible to play. The annoying thing is I can' track it down to a specific cause, because I've experienced the same thing in the vanilla version of new vegas, as well as the TTW version. I have had it happen with and without mods installed. I really don't know what to do anymore and am almost at the stage where I may have to abandon this game on PC as is such a headache and go back to playing New Vegas on my console.

Really annoyed as was 20 videos into a series on YouTube and now that looks to be ended as I keep crashing trying to get out of the bloody Talon Company Base. The game let me in and let me clear out the talon company but now I can't get back to he wasteland. Might have to try a console command to teleport me out but where do I go as I get crashes at so many other places now.

Momod is known to cause these

Post by RoyBatty » Sun Jul 05, 2015 6:51 pm

Momod is known to cause these kinds of issues, try uninstalling it (not just disabling). It is not compatible with TTW afaik.

Nevada Skies can cause these kinds of issues too.

Also check the optimization thread here and make sure you have multicore enabled, the game is known to crash without it being enabled.
