New Game starts in Doc Mitchell's, despite troubleshooting

Post by Riatsala » Fri Feb 27, 2015 11:58 pm

Windows 7 x64 AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 945 8 gb RAM

Using Steam versions of New Vegas Ultimate and FO3 GOTY

When I start a new game in ToTW (which otherwise seems to be loading correctly, as I have the ToTW graphic), it first plays the New Vegas intro movie, then the Fallout 3 intro movie, then starts me off in Doc Mitchell's house.

I did a manual install of ToTW. I was sure to edit both Fallout.ini and FalloutPrefs.ini in the specified ways. I also edited FalloutDefault.ini, just to be sure. I'm launching it via Mod Organizer on the NVSE profile. The load order is exactly correct.

So what am I missing? Is there a duplicate path for these ini files somewhere?

I do not use MO so I am not

I do not use MO so I am not sure of what I am going to say is right or wrong... But if memory serves me right MO has it's own ini file hiding somewhere, so unless you change that ini file it will not work.

Again I am not sure if this is true, I just seem to for some reason have this stuck in my head frown.

I uploaded a zip file

Post by JaxFirehart » Sat Feb 28, 2015 5:27 am

I uploaded a zip file containing a folder called "INI Tweaks" inside this is a file called "Ini Settings.ini"

Drop the folder and all files inside the folder into your "Mod Organizer/mods/Tale of Two Wastelands" so that you end up with "Mod Organizer/mods/Tale of Two Wastelands/INI Tweaks/Ini Settings.ini"

From what I understand Mod Organizer uses it's own custom INI rather than the one stored in My Games, the INI Settings file in the INI Tweaks folder of a mod is used to modify MO's inis.

Jax is correct, I'll just add

Jax is correct, I'll just add that should you wish to manually edit .inis while using MO (which keeps separate inis for each profile) in the future you should do so either via

a) launching MO, selecting the profile, then clicking the Tools button and selecting INI Editor

b) manually edit in editor of your choice the files in the path "ModOrganizer\profiles\<profile name>\fallout.ini & falloutprefs.ini"

The .inis in "My Documents/My Games/FalloutNV" are completely omitted by MO

Kill me again or take me as I am, for I shall not change.

Guys, I am having this same

Post by bill » Thu Mar 12, 2015 6:24 am

Guys, I am having this same exact issue after installing a few mods, and I'm using Fallout Mod Manager.

EDIT*** I got it to work. Something seems to be resetting the ini, so it IS the mod managing programs doing this?

tee hee... silly me.v I just made the changes to all fallout3 and falloutNV ini files and the falloutNV pref file
