Errors, errors everywhere.

Post by zenkicoupe » Sun Oct 19, 2014 7:47 am

so, i'm now on my third attempt at installing and making this work.

obligitory info.

  • System Specs (including Operating System, Processor, and Memory, nobody cares about your graphics card)

    intel i7, 16bg ram, windows 8.1

  • Mod Manager and Version

    FOMM 0.14.11.9

  • TTW Install Log (My Documents\my games\TaleOfTwoWastelands\Install Log.txt)

    see below

  • Current Load Order (Most mod managers have a quick and easy way to export this)

    not even there yet

  • Symptoms (What is it doing vs. What you expect it to be doing)

  • What you have already tried?

manual installation, i'll cover how that went in a second

Additionally, we'd like to have some information on your specific version of Fallout 3:

  • Steam download game of the year

SO, when i try to use FOMM that is the error i get. so i thought, hmm, manual installation, i'll give that a go. got it all installed tried to boot the game using NVSE and got an error (forgot to screen cap it) but BASICALLY catastrophic failure to launch. game booted fine in steam (nv) even got the fo3 intro video, but i was in the mojave and not the capital wasteland. now did i do something wrong? i followed the steps. i wasn't sure, so i gave up and decided i'd try again later, just deleted, removed, got rid of, and re downloaded and installed TTW, FO3 AND NV, TTW instal goes fine, its beyond that where i constantly run into issues.

NOW before this, i was playing a modded NV with NVSE no problem, i also play skyrim with the script extender installed as well. now, i'd really like to head to the capitol wastes, but i got so used to new vegas, i'm not sure i'd wanna go back (i only ever played a vanilla and pre dlc FO3, so i know i missed a lot) so please you wonderful creators help me out?

well try installing TTW and start a new game! A game that starts in Vault 101! No other mods, clean install until you exit the vault!

thats what i've been ATTEMPTING to do. that error pops up when i try to install the fomods, and nvse crashes when i do a manual install.

so, even though both games are fresh vanilla installs, i cant start a game in vault 101

Here are a couple things that you can try.

1) do a manual install without using NVSE initially to verify the install (TTW doesn't need NVSE so you can install it later)

2) when you do a manual install you have to manually edit all three ini files otherwise  you'll start at Doc's in NV instead of 101. Make sure you change the one in the Fallout game file otherwise when Steam updates and launches it'll revert all of them back to vanilla.

3) Are you still using the fomods when installing manually?

I only install manually due to not having enough RAM for FOMM. Also NMM is not recommended for installation.

Hope some of this helps.

If life is but a test, where's the damn answer key?!?!?
