Fallout 3 .ini file

Post by klixxr » Wed Jul 29, 2015 10:04 pm

Hey just a quick question about getting Fallout 3 running.

Right when I click "Play" from FO3, the game crashes so I'm not able to create a fallout.ini for it. I see in the Steam guide that might be a GFWL issue but I'd rather not download that unless I have to. It also says I can use Games for Windows LIVE Disabler from nexus mods or FOSE to disable it.

Will using either of these disablers affect installing TTW? The only thing I have installed right now is FOMM.

It crashes if you don't use

It crashes if you don't use the multicore tweak.

That d3d9.dll crap is if you have a laptop and the game can't identify your video card properly.

Do I need to keep GWFL disabler in mods organizer or is it a one-time thing?

You need to keep it. Also LAA patch the exe, and launch it with FOSE.

So I ran GFWL disabler and it says can't find FALLOUT.ini? I am running an Intel laptop so I did get the d3d9.dll too. Still crashes when I press "Play" from the first screen.

Alright, so I tried using FOSE but it didn't work, so I just downloaded GFWL and it seems to be working. Launching with FOMM seems to be working now.

RoyBatty, do you mean the 4GB Fallout New Vegas mod?

Nope, you can patch fallout3

Nope, you can patch fallout3.exe directly, there's no envelope check like new vegas has. I beleive NMC uploaded a tool to do so.

Hey, just another thing I was

Post by klixxr » Thu Jul 30, 2015 6:31 am

Hey, just another thing I was kind of confused about is the optional files. I didn't see Bobblehead Rebalance, More Cooking Items, Super Mutant Rebalance, or XP Reduction in the optional files installation so I thought they would already be in the game. I downloaded and installed MCM and put it in to FOMM but in the pause menu I don't see any option to turn those four on or off.

In the FAQ it says those four are Now part of the MCM plugin TTWOptions but I don't see that option.

*It's called MCM optionals

Also, I already found a Bobblehead so would it mess up the game if I enabled Bobblehead Rebalance?

If you are playing TTW,

If you are playing TTW, fallout 3 isn't needed at all. You only need it to build the mod.
