How to re-enable audio distortion for intercoms and holotapes?

Post by Knuckles128 » Fri Sep 25, 2015 8:57 pm

I understand there isn't any practical solution to the audio *cracking* noise problem because of the differences in the way the two games handle audio. However, does anybody know the way to re-enable the audio distortion via GECK or FNVEdit? This has been driving me crazy for a while now.

And rightfully so. I searched through the voice files of Fallout 3 and Fallout NV and found out why that is. FNV holotapes and intercoms come pre-filtered. Fallout 3 are perfectly clear. My guess is with the audio change in FNV, they decided it was too much of a hassle to apply that effect from Fallout 3 to every audio holotape/intercom and did it by hand instead. Now to figure out a way to filter the dialog with a similar effect...

I suppose you could make a mod in F3 to play them over intercoms or whatever, and re-record the audio from that.

I feel like there's some debugger tool that plays audio through a filter from the game, there's no way bethesda tested the audio with the intercom and holotapes in-game solely. or at least I would hope so...... the implications of them developing the filter and not checking the clips that would later use them, while makes sense, does nothing to help us or maintain there image; however tarnished it may be.
