Crash during startup

Post by Kavion » Sun Jun 29, 2014 6:52 pm

SOLVED!

Solution: turn off any program that can causes popups to appear during the startup process of the game. This does not include steam. The program that caused the problem for me was overwolf.

I have been trying for about three days now to get TTW to work and every time i have had the same results. When the game boots up i will get the screen with all the different copyright info, it will then move on to the "Bethesda softworks a ZeniMax Media Company" however during the transition it will freeze. At this point it has crashed and will stay like that until the game is shut down.

I didn't know how to make those fancy green buttons so my install log can be found as an attached dokument

Operating System: windows 7

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz

Memory: 8.00 GB

Using Fomm version 0.13.21 with the Fomm.exe swapped out with the one from the install page.

Load order:

FalloutNV.esm

DeadMoney.esm

HonestHearts.esm

OldWorldBlues.esm

LonesomeRoad.esm

GunRunnersArsenal.esm

CaravanPack.esm

ClassicPack.esm

MercenaryPack.esm

TribalPack.esm

Fallout 3.esm

Anchorage.esm

ThePitt.esm

BrokenSteel.esm

PointLookout.esm

Zeta.esm

TaleOfTwoWastelands.esm

TTW_XPReduction.esp

TTW_StashPackOptions.esp

TTW_SpeechChecks.esp

TTW_OutcastTrading.esp

TTW_MoreCookingItems.esp

I have tried uninstalling fallout 3 and fallout New Vegas twice. The second time i made sure to remove anything even a little related to fallout.

Fallout 3 is the steam GOTY edition. while New Vegas and all the dlcs were bought separately.

It seems to be ok. Are you using NVSE?

Did you check if the ini files are set up correctly?

Disable all TTW files, load

Post by JaxFirehart » Sun Jun 29, 2014 11:00 pm

Disable all TTW files, load and see if it works. If it does, enable JUST Fallout3.esm load and see if it works. If it does, enable Anchorage.esm load and see if it works. If it does DISABLE ANCHORAGE.ESM and enable ThePitt.esm. Disable the pitt and check broken steel. Disable and check point lookout, then zeta. If you have checked Fallout3.esm and each DLC and it is still working, check TTW.esm. Let us know at which point the freeze begins occurring again.

With all the TTW files

Post by Kavion » Mon Jun 30, 2014 7:26 am

With all the TTW files disabled the game will start up normally. However after enabling JUST the Fallout3.esm the problem is back and is freezes and crashes on startup. Prior to starting this thread i also tried the method in the FAQ under "HELP! I installed TTW and now I have no main menu, or the game crashes at startup". No results

Seems like it might be a bad TTW install frown did you install manually or used the fomod file? If you used the fomod file, did you had any errors installing it the first time?

I ask that because NMM sometimes corrupts the fomod file and if you then use that fomod file and install it correctly it will not work because it got corrupted broken heart.

Those fancy green buttons are spoiler tags, you can make one by writing whatever you want to be in one of those and then selecting the text and clicking on the button that is usually the second from the left, it is the one with a small triangle facing left and a blue "S" after the triangle, both of those inside a square. After that you just name it by writing as title for it to display inside the green button wink.

By following Zenmetsu's advice about closing any programs that causes popups, i was finally able to get further then the opening slides. However now i am faced with a new problem. When i get to what should have been the main menu there are no buttons and neither do i have a mouse cursor.
