Installer stopping at Extracting Fallout Misc

Post by Stealthyboy » Tue Jun 03, 2014 12:22 am

As the title says, the Installer seems to stop doing anything when it reaches Extracting Fallout - Misc

  • System Specs: Windows 7 home premium, Intel Core i7 CPU, 8GB RAM

  • Nexus Mod Manager 0.47.3 (Not that it's got far enough to need it yet)

  • Installer stops doing anything, not frozen as buttons clickable, just not doing anything after it gets started and so far in.

  • I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling C++ 2010 and 2012's both x86 and x64, no difference, still stops at the same point.

My copy of Fallout 3 is a physical copy, GOTY edition.

Extracting Fallout - Misc is near instant on almost all computers. So in this case it isn't a patience issue, Plum. Rather the problem here is that Stealthyboy is missing the required dependencies. Reread the alpha page, pay special attention to the Requirements section. Make sure you have installed the .Net components and Redistributables.

A couple of hours the first time, less after reinstalling the C++ frameworks redistributables. Was I too premature in thinking it had gone the same way?

I'll leave it going overnight. If it's still stuck on the same thing tomorrow I'll come back, if not then I may very well be a giant moron.

Edit: As I said, I definitely had the correct C++ redistributables. I'll try reinstalling the .NET too.

Ok, reinstalled the .NET as well and it's still doing the same thing. If I'm not following the requirements correctly, I'm completely at a loss as to how.

Edit: As mentionned previously, I have uninstalled C++ 2010 and 2012 redistributables and then reinstalled both, both x86 and x64 for each. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled .NET 4.51 framework through the links on the Alpha Download page. Fallout 3 is GOTY edition and patched to v 1.7.0.3, Fallout NV has all DLCs and is v1.4.0.525. Both are clean, fresh installs and the files are not set to read only.

Edit2: And I have been running the installer in Admin mode.

Try this (the file not found section). This error pops up from time to time. Usually it is solved by verifying you meet the requirements, specifically the x64 part of it. If you are certain the requirements are fine (you seem to know what you are doing), try the linked fix.

Ok, that's strange. My TTW 2.4a installer\resources folder doesn't seem to have a BSAOpt_x64.exe. In TTW 2.4a Installer\resources\BSAOpt there is only BSAOpt_x32.exe. Should I try renaming the BSAOpt_x32 to BSAOpt_x64 anyway?

Edit: Just tried that, and it seems to have worked. LOADS of thanks to you two for all the help.

That implies that the installer you downloaded is incomplete. I would suggest that you re-download the installer and re-install, just in case there are other missing files that don't make themselves obvious.

I actually already redownloaded the installer after I noticed that it was missing that exe, and it still didn't have the BSAOpt_x64.exe. Very odd.
