Why am I starting in NV?

Post by Andr0idOS » Fri Jun 13, 2014 11:05 pm

Hey guys, sorry I'm gonna make this quick, just about to take off and have somewhat of a life for a change. So I just finished setting up my TTW installation, got all my mods set up in the proper LO and everything. But I made some changes to the fallout ini's to optimize my game further, and now when I start a new game I start off in New Vegas. What's up with this? What did I change in the ini that created this problem? I know when I first installed TTW it made some changes to my ini files, but I don't recall what it was.

To be clear, all I want is to start in DC, not NV. Here's my LO.

I'm using the latest version of TTW and FOMM btw, I would've edited my post but the messed up spoiler tag is glitching hard.

Edit: Thanks TJ. The spoiler tag was covering up my second post and the edit button, but it's not anymore. Weird. Apologies for the triple post.

Spoiler tag looks fine to me. Edit your ini and make the changes detailed on the alpha download page if you're still having this issue. --TJ

How are you launching the game? are you using the vanilla launcher? If so that is your issue! It will kill any .ini changes. Launch the game with NVSE launcher or the 4Gb loader to avoid steam killing your changes.

Loading using the New Vegas Launcher causes the INI files to revert to default.

Launch FNV.exe directly.

There are 3 ini's to change. Two in your game folder and one in the New Vegas folder.

did you not read the three posts above yours? You need to make an .ini change.

As Chuck said But here it is again.

You have 3 ini's. Two in your game folder ie documents/games/fallout new vegas or what not. 1 in the fallout new vegas folder ie steam/steamapps/common/falloutnewvegas and this one is marked "fallout_default". Anytime steam updates and launches via the vanilla game launcher the ini is reverted to the "default" that's in the install folder. Make a copy, rename it and then change the default ini and the other two for TTW specs. ( I do this since I use DarnUITTW and got tired of always having to fix my ini's) Then regardless of launcher the ini stays intact even when steam updates.

So.

1) make backup copy of "fallout_default"

2)Make changes per TTW specs to ALL THREE ini's

3)Launch and enjoy

You have to actually run the game from default launcher once, run it, setup your graphics options and start fallout new vegas from it. Once you get into the main game you can exit to desktop. You can then use FNV4GB or the nvse_launcher without a problem.

Also as paragon said, if you edit the Fallout_Default.ini in the installation folder, the changes will persist.
